Montalvo actually went 2-0 AFTER he left St. Louis!

SP J. Montalvo of the Philadelphia Phillies honored: Wins the MLB NL Pitcher of the Month Award.

After a July where the Cardinals lost two games, St. Louis got off on the right foot in August too, on the strength of an 11th inning John Burt homer.

Angelo Pacheco (yes, I was able to start him again after the THREE off-days) and Cisco Martinez dueled for the 11 innings, but Pacheco picked up win #24.

ANOTHER off day tomorrow.

St. Louis jumped on Chicago starter John Jacobson early and held on for a 4-2 win over the Orphans today.

Cardinals got two in the first on a John Burt triple and a Orlando Ortiz single. Steve O'Herlihy had his usual solid game, allowing only 7 hits and picking up his 17th win of the season.
