Im not sure of the exact numbers, but that is a problem. I never knew how to change something to keep that from happening - this seems like the way to do it. Try that and run some sims to see if it is changed?

if guys like that are getting released because of slow starts than we should definetly try a different formula there.

Just switched it up and it seems to fix things some. Sheffield might just be cut because I rated him too low, I'll be fixing some of the ratings via the suggestions you guys gave in the other thread for the release tonight.

In other news, redsoxford fixed up the file a TON, and now the player stats are even in order on the player card (they used to be listed as 2004, 2006, 2005 on just the player page for some reason). History, financials, etc. are all fixed.

The only thing we won't have in yet perhaps is coaches, although the problem with mystery coaches that you can't hire or fire is fixed, the only problem is the current guys for the MLB teams are fictional. I might have time still to run through and fix them though, as the minor league teams are all still correct on coaches.

Does anyone know a resource for getting contracts for managers and coaches?

You can find some of them here:

http://www.mlb4u.com/

Select "Team" from the top menu, select your team, and some of them are listed under the guys who runs the team section, which is the first thing that comes up. Not all, though. For instance, for the Yankees, Joe Torre and Larry Bowa are listed. It seems to have most of the managers, but the data on the coaches is limited salary-wise. (Even using my Yanks example, the Bowa salary is his 2006 salary. Torre has everything listed, though.)

That's my favorite site for player contracts. You can get a lot of information about incentives and, most importantly, salary data for future years.

Cubby - are you pre-gaming as you are finishing this set? You better be.

Thumbs up Thanks & Analysis

First, foremost, & most important. Thanks to: Cubbyfan23, haveband, Muzamba, injury.log, IcySpanish, Exodor, Underlined.i, rdklein, & everyone Cubby didn't mention. Thanks, that's a lot of hard work and sharing all that work deserves more than a thank you can cover.

As for my analysis, I ran a two year sim, and even added college & high school feeders. I find the set to be solid, but I see why you made a list of issues you already knew about.

1) The financial are solid, just arranged add is all. Second season all was good. Didn't find this to be major.

2) League Totals I found pretty solid too. Averaged out over two years more so. AL Pitchers were fine in my sim. Johan Santana even won the pitching triple crown in the AL.

3) The biggest thing which I found was the ratings of prospects. You were right on that. You may have even understated the issue. (Tim Lincecum 2007 total 300 K's) Tampa Bay has performed way too well in every test sim I've seen and done . Washington won the NL wildcard in my 2007 just beating out the Marlins. This must be a reflection of the prospect ratings. Maybe, this has some impact on my 4th point.

4)I also had a slew of weird releases like the ones you've mentioned. Craig Biggio (didn't get his 3,000 hits), Tim Wakefield, & similar players of high age & experience. I also had guys like Homer Bailey released. All before the season started. I'm wondering if the releases in general don't maybe have something to do with the AI's perception of the odd financial arrangement. Maybe, the release of older, experienced, high salary guys has to do with the very high ratings of prospects in all the teams systems.

Otherwise no crashes, errors, anything else wrong. A solid set. I thought you'd just want to see what type of results other folks are getting. I'm in waiting in one of the leagues planning on using your set, I can see it's going to be worth the wait. Thanks to all again.

PS: No Joke- I have one eye. Maybe that's why I don't see the Pulaski Blue Jays anywhere.

Release 2.0, some highlights:

- History added, keep in mind 2006 will be missing (something we can't fix that I'm aware of) and that some of the player cards won't link up right. Other than that, it should be all right and all there.
- Financials are fixed for everyone but Seattle (and the M's get fixed after the first year) so you should be able to swing deals without throwing huge amounts of cash back and forth. Note that I gave Seattle a ton of cash, so if you ever DO have to deal with them, that's an option (take cash/give cash) to match up salaries exactly and make the deal.
- Coaches are now fictional (for now, working on that now along with more real life FA's for another release) but they are fixed so that none of them are "ghosts" in that you can't fire or hire them.
- Improved ratings on some of the real life prospects who were dominating a bit too much like Justin Upton, Votto, etc. along with cranking up ratings on some guys per suggestions in the ratings thread, and fixing things here and there. Still going to be going through and tweaking ratings so keep those suggestions coming.

Unless it's fixed itself, the only thing I couldn't see how to fix was moving Major League from the bottom of the drop down list to the top. I'd renumbered the league to 100 from 120 and moved all references to league 120 to league 100 and yet it still stayed resolutely at the bottom of the list. I'm guessing this is something that Markus would know how to fix, and I'm not going to find out the key to solving it from SI so I'll have to keep digging until I stumble upon it.

There are a few invisible teams still floating around the game, but they must be being referenced elsewhere as deleting them causes the game to crash. If I find out where they're being referenced I'll get it fixed.

My post might have got lost in the shuffle before, but did you set the 2007 schedule as the default? Sure, it's easy to change, but it seems some people aren't aware that the schedule is available.

Hey Cubby, great work on the set so far. Once again, you've pulled through. Anyway, do you happen to know if anyone else is hosting the file? Filefront is blocked here at ....ummmm.... home, yeah I'm at home right now.

That's because ratings wise....they SUCK! Sorry, I'm not insulting you, that's just the first thought that came in my head.

EDIT: Sorry, guess I should've read ahead!

Okay, I'm going to sim a season with the Detroit Tigers.

One major thing that I saw is that Placido Polanco is not anywhere in the game. It looks like he got deleted. The improved ratings look good at first glance as well as the financials. I'll post my results once I'm done simming.

Thanks very much. Now I can further put off a report that I've been writing another day.

Sim date issue.

Hi guys,

Great work on the roster but I have a query?

When I click to quick sim I get 2006 instead of 2007! Anyone else had this? I though I was going crazy so I restarted and tried to load my fictional MLB and everything was fine with that. So I went back to cubbys and its still the same!

P.S. Tiger isn't my real name!!
