You are right about our clusterf*ck of highways. Hwy 55 might not be a bad alternate route, it runs straight through downtown. |

It's funny that Silva issued an IBB. What with how few people he walks.

That Liriano guy can pitch well on occasion.

Santana has been sick...then Varitek hits a solo shot, and he's losing. Why? Because the Twins offense can't do poo!

What is the 82-85 mph pitch Santana throws? Is it a slider? Just watching the highlight reel and he recorded every single one of the 13 Ks with it.

He throws his slider at about that... but he pitches a lot of changeups (which go down to about 77) he strikes a ton of guys out with that. I am guessing you saw some guys go down to the slider and some to the changeup. He only throws fastballs about 50% of his pitches, which is quite low for a guy regarded as a flamethrower. He gets away with it because his changeup is nasty... probably the toughest in the league to hit. Then again his slider/curve is quite nasty too.
Thats probably why he is the best pitcher in baseball.

Interesting. It was that fastball/hard changeup combination that made Jason Schmidt so dominant for a couple of years, though Santana has obviously found a way to be more consistent with it.
