They now sit in 5th place in the NL table, 7.5 games behind the leaders. Series Results won final game of road trip to the St Louis Browns 0-3 on the road to the Philadelphia Quakers 0-3 on the road to the Brooklyn Grays 0-2 at home to the Cincinnati Red Stockings 2-1 at home to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys 3-0 on the road to the New York Giants 2-1 on the road to the Boston Beaneaters 1-1 at home to the St Louis Browns 3-0 at home to the New York Giants lost first game of road trip to the Brooklyn Grays Star Short Stop Jack Glasscock missed a couple of weeks of the month after picking up an oblique strain. He was back at the end of the month. Catcher Emil Gross also returned from the disabled list towards the end of the month. Second Baseman Ezra Sutton continues to show that experience is good for performances. He picked up 28 hits from 91 at bats in the 24 games he played. They managed to get Right Fielder Bobby Wheelock back from the disabled list only to see star second baseman Fred Dunlap go onto the list. The team got some good news when Pitcher Tom Healy returned from injury. The team also announced a strengthening of the pitching unit by claiming pitcher The Only Nolan from the Boston Beaneaters via waivers. After missing much of the end of last season and all of the pre season pitcher Adonis Terry is just enjoying playing the game again. This can be seen in his performances. The first to go down was John Clarkson who picked up a strained abdominal muscle to sideline him for 3 weeks. The second pitcher they lost was Frank Gilmore who strained a bicep and will miss between 2 and 3 weeks. Left Fielder George Tebeau continued his good form in May.
