Nice to meet you...
Rocco, nice to finally meet you. Thanks for all your created fighter files. So many of the HW files that I am posting in the Heavyweight Files Exchange thread are your creations. Eagerly awaiting more of your creations since I only use HW's in my universe. Thanks, btown32

New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Louis Kid Boone Rating 1 USA
LHW 1964-72 4 wins / 7 losses / 0 draws / 4 KO Alias: Kid Hometown: Carson City, NE / Fort Worth, TX Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Won Knockout two knockout fights in April 1964. Next up came losses in October 1965 against Max Martinez and Bobby Dennard. No record again for him until January 1967 when he looses a 6 round decision to Filifili Alaiasa then in September looses another 6 rounder to a MW, Billy Strother(13-7-1,6). It's 3 years then before we see Boone again in August 1970 when he's KO'd in the 2nd by HW Jimmy Boyde(9-7-2,8). Next up is a 2nd round KO win over a MW Pete Knight(12-33-4,8) in March 1971. Boone then finishes his career with single fights in January, February and March 1972, the first a 1st round TKO win over LHW Lee Mitchell(2-17-0,0), then is knocked out in 2 by LHW Lonnie Bennett. Finally in March he looses a UD to a pretty bad looking welterweight, Polo Corona(11-44-3,5). This guy wasn't much to look at but I liked his name and he did have the one fight in 1967 against Alaiasa whom I'd rated some time ago. Rocco |

Glad to hear that you are doing much better. I always have use for your fighters because they are the fighters you never hear about and even if they were far from great, good, or decent.....it's still a part of boxing history and your work if definitely appreciated by me.

Nice to meet you to btown32! Quite a project you've set up with that HW File Exchange. I'm sure there's many of us here who will find that of great use. I know I'm going to take the time to look through it and see if there's anyone I don't have. You've probably seen by the majority of fighters I've posted that my main interest is also the HW's along with LHW's. I'm really enjoying this 1967 project as I've collected a number of Ring, Boxing Illustrated magazines and Boxing News papers from that time to read up on the history of boxing back then and those specific years. Thanks, glad you find them of great use. With this 67 project I've collected a good number of magazines from 1966-68 and am enjoying reading more about the fighters from that time, even many of the more obscure. Thanks for you kind comments! Rocco |

New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Vernon Clay Rating 1 USA
HW 1967-70 8 wins / 6 losses / 0 draws / 5 KO Hometown: New Orleans, LA Rating bY; Rocco Del Sesto Won his first two bouts by 3rd round TKO against Willie Lee(11-24-1,5) and 6 round UD against Roy "Cookie" Wallace. He thne lost by 1st round TKO (3 knockdowns rule) against LHW Joe Burns(23-7-1,10). After 4 wins and a no contest against no one of note except maybe Al Banks(11-22-0,5), he lost again to Joe Burns by 5th round KO in July 1968. Clay followed that with a couple wins against Roy Wallace and LHW Joe Dorsey(good LHW from late 50's early 60's trying to stage a comeback) in 1969. He finished out 1969 though with a tough 10 round UD loss to Hal Carroll and then ran into the fists of young George Foreman in October. Clay lost two more fights in 1970 both by TKO to Charlie James and Roy Wallace. |

Boys are doing fine.
Antonio took up the Tuba in his first year of band in 6th grade this past year and turned into quite the Tuba player to our surprise. He won a superior rating at a small competition a month ago and was named "MVP" of the Brass section in his 6th grade band. He then got chosen to play in the Symphonic Band next year in 7th grade which I guess getting picked for the Symphonic means your looked at as one of the better players! So we're all pretty surprised and proud how well he did! Baseball for him has been up and down with a rash of nagging injuries here and there. The latest was jamming his rotor cuff in his glove arm this past Sunday slamming into the outfield wall. Unfortunately it's pretty sore and the ball went for a homer! But, his had a nice year overall. Nathaniel's been Nathaniel, but everyone's been in pretty good health these days which is what you can only ask for! Thanks for asking! Rocco |

New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Charlie James Rating 1 USA
HW 1967-78 5 wins / 10 losses / 1 draw / 2 KO Hometown: Sacramento, CA Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Charlie James fought a good number of heayweights we've seen already in TBC. A couple problems he maybe had that showed in his lack of success was an apparent lack of ability to put an opponent away due to the large number of decisions fought, mostly losses. Also he fought every infrequently, 2 or 3 times a year at the most. He managed wins over Marty Franklin, Vernon Clay, Terry Hinke, Ron Stander(Unofficial Heavyweight Title of Hawaii) and Koli Vailea. He also managed a 10 round draw with Pedro Lovell. Losses mounted up against Matt Blow, Fred Lewis, Henry clark, Jose Luis Garcia, Pedro Lovell, Larry Holmes, Fonomanu Sekona, John Baca, Howard Smith and Fili Moala. |

New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Memphis Jack Johnson Rating 1 USA
HW 1965-76 5 wins / 16 losses / 3 draws / 5 KO Hometown: Memphis, TN Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Johnson was stopped in 14 of his 16 losses and won all 5 of his victories by knockout or TKO. So for him it was pretty much stop the opponent or be dropped. Two of his very early wins were both 6th round TKO's over Memphis Al Jones and an Al Jones(17-12-3,6) from St. Louis, MO who was on the tail end of his career. A couple other later wins came against a Jimmy Gillespie(0-3-0) and his 5th win was against a Sylvester Murphy(2-4-0,1) both from Memphis. In his first two career bouts both were draws with the first being against Memphis Al. Some of those who beat Jack were Ben Black, Ron Marsh, Tod Herring, Charles Williams, Orville Qualls, Jimmy Cross, Rodney Bobick, Johnny Boudreaux, Memphis Al, Bjorn Rudi, Flemming Jensen, and Marvin Camel whom we've all seen rated into the game. |

New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Charles Williams Rating 1 USA
HW 1965-69 8 wins / 4 losses / 1 draw / 4 KO Alias: Hercules Hometown: St. Louis, MO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto In 1965 and 66 Williams started out his career with a 6 round draw with a Jimmy Harryman(9-3-1,7), then lost 2 round KO's to Karl Zurheide and Bobby Dennard and a 6 round decision to Billy Marsh. He then won for the first time in April 1967 with a 6 round decision over Marty Franklin(12-14-2,2). He followed that with four more wins in 1968, a 1st round KO of Quinn Bynum(1-7-0) and then decisions over Lee Estes and twice over Memphis Al Jones. 12(12)-0-0 Rating: 4 - Still early for him but he is 30 years old and just started with 8 round fights. Plus, he has faced very weak competition. MJ

A 4 is pretty good. Tommy Morrison is a 4. I doubt if he is as impressive as Tommy and he hasn't boxed anyone with a heartbeat as of yet.
