Jimmy McNamara - LW (1926-1936) Overall Rating = 5

Hometown - Greenwich Village, New York
42(8)-16-8

McNamara was touted as a protege of Gene Tunney. He feasted on local and lesser talent but had difficulties with the better fighters of the thirties. He scored eight round decisions over Joe Glick and Marty Goldman but lost to Petey Sarron, Sammy Dorfman, Pete Nebo, Kid Wolfe, Eddie Ran and Ray Miller among others. He was only stopped by Wolfe and Ran but the stoppage to Ran was a dousey. Ran put him down and the referee dispensed with the count because McNamara was so out.

Andres Antonio Selpa

Only after I posted his photo did I realize that Andres Antonio Selpa had not been rated. An Argentine middleweight, he fought from 1951 to 1968, compiling a career record of 139-49-30 (81). He was stopped six times.

Selpa defeated Eduardo Lausse for the South American title in October 1956, defended it against Ubaldo Sacco and Humberto Loayza before losing it to Lausse in September 1958. Apparently a dirty fighter, he lost eight bouts via disqualification.

Al Wilson

Welterweight from Englewood, N.J., who fought from 1948 to 1957, compiling a record of 26-18-2 (8). He was stopped just once--by Wilfredo Miro, via seventh-round knockout, in February 1949.

Largely a trial horse, Al Wilson lost to a young Randy Sandy, Johnny Bratton (twice, once on a split decision), Ramon Fuentes, Maurice Harper, Ronnie Delaney, Isaac Logart, Garnet Hart, and Jimmy Moulton. He split with Bobby Lloyd, Jetson Arnold, and Ted Murray. He defeated Billy Mims, Phil Burton (twice), Pat Lowry, and Jackie O'Brien among others.

Action photo to follow.

Here's a Middleweight version of Selpa that I'd had. I thought it was a game version that came with TB2. Also I've attached a LHW version. His career had breakdown in it first MW and then LHW that I took a stab and posted sometime back the LHW version.

Al Trulmans

A native of Oregon who fought out of San Diego, Al Trulmans was active from 1929 to 1939, compiling a record of 35-16-8 (11). He was stopped just once--by Ceferino Garcia in his next-to-last bout.

Trulmans beat Bermondsey Billy Wells, Charley Feraci, Indian Mike Payan, Manuel Victoria, and Augie Arellano. He split with Swede Berglund and Johnny (Bandit) Romero, and lost to Young Jack Thompson, Don Fraser (twice), Ron Richards, Jack Carroll, Sammy Slaughter, Jack Gibbsons, and Garcia.

As is too common, no photo to be found. Have a nice weekend, everybody!

Herbie Kronowitz

Another in my seemingly endless line of New York Jewish fighters.

Herbie Kronowitz was a ranked middleweight in the forties, ending his ten-year career with a record of 56-23-5 (10). He was stopped twice.

According to a brief biography at Jews in Sports, Kronowitz grew up idolizing Ben Jeby and "always" wanted to be a fighter.

I playtested the attached ratings against over 1,100 fighters with ratings of 4 and below. Against this cohort, Kronowitz performed with superb accuracy.

A good photo to follow.

Vinnie Cidone

Another Brooklyn middleweight. Vinnie Cidone carried a lethal left hook, which brought him to a record of 35-12-0 (21) in four years. In his best fight, he floored Rocky Graziano before losing on cuts. (Cidone cut easily. He lost eight times on TKO's, usually because of cuts.)

A contemporary and rival of Herbie Kronowitz--they split their two bouts--Cidone was playtested against the same set of fighters and performed quite accurately.

No photo, although I've included a link to a nice little article on Cidone.

Rocco
Selpa was rated in an earlier version of the game.
