Pro Cup - Game 7
The Marston Nine have won Pro Cup XVIII. It's their first IPA title. It was 1-0 Turon going into the bottom of the 8th, and it looked like the Typhoons might storm back from a 3-1 series deficit to steal the Pro Cup away from the Nine. But with runners on 1st and 2nd, Zeb Morse flared a single into center field to tie the game, and then Ryan Gray blasted a 3-run homer to right-center to give Marston a 4-1 lead, which Turon could not overcome in the 9th inning. The title for the Nine was secured with a line drive catch by the 1st baseman Pat Fischer. |

Looks like Zeb got his second Pro Cup title, to match his brother's current total. Although it took Marston one more game than I'd predicted to take the Pro Cup, of course. Turon should be a contender for a while, though, I think, along with Kenwood, among others.
As far as Denton City and Hillsboro, they're going to first have to get past Kenwood and South Fork, respectively, to even have chances to win Pro Cups, obviously enough here. Freeman will probably be done by '95, at the latest, I think, and Walton won't be too far behind him as well, perhaps. Zeb probably won't play past 40 either, as well, so maybe he won't get at least a third title anytime soon, especially if other teams get better soon enough. Jethro probably has a better chance of finishing with at least three Pro Cup titles than Zebulon does, at this point. Holmes probably has at least another five to ten years left for his career. Garber maybe at least another ten or so years. And Clairborne and Parverol might have a chance to still be playing in 1901, as well, when Henry's sons start to potentially appear in your IPA or MLB, at least, I think, jg2977. CD out.
