Dennis Biddle
Dennis "Bose" Biddle, P, is shown in the uniform of the Chicago American Giants. Dennis has claimed that he played for the American Giants in 1953 and 1954. The problem is that the American Giants commonly recognized as the Negro Leagues team went out of existence after the 1952 season. It's possible that there was another team named the Chicago American Giants which arose in 1953. Biddle says he has a valid copy of a contract with the real Chicago American Giants. I'm in no position to conclude anything other than that the whole matter about whether he really played in the Negro Leagues is in dispute.

Earl Brown
Earl Brown was a pitcher and outfielder with the Lincoln Giants, Baltimore Black Sox, and Harrisburg Giants. During his college years, he pitched for Harvard. Later in life, he was an editor for Life Magazine and a political activist.
The group photo on the right was placed next to Earl Brown's name on an Ivy League website, giving a bio of Harvard's Earl Brown. So I assume that Earl is one of the three players. My hunch, based on his appearance as an older man, is that he is the player on the left of the three, but I'll give the viewer the choice. Last edited by Cusick; 11-07-2014 at 08:16 AM. |
