thanks for the info rom. i had problems in the past, but this time the whole comp shut down. they said that they could transfer data files but not apps, as long as they had the pathway info. they were going to charge $199 just for a diagnostic test and then i wouldve had to pay additional charges to fix whatever was wrong. figured it was better to just get a new computer. im trying to figure out how to transfer the data myself from comp 2 comp so i dont have to pay an extra $100 just to transfer data. anyways, hopefully, i will get everything done and restarted by the weekend. if any of you guys are good with comps, id appreciate it if you could tell me what equipment or wires i need to do the transfer myself. thanks

okay, just got my new computer and downloaded both the tbcb2 and tbcb3. i am going to take out my hard drive from my old laptop and put it into a one-touch rocketfish hard drive transfer unit. i should be able to transfer all the data i need with a drag and drop application that cost about half the price best buy was going to charge me and then i can use the old hard drive as a back-up drive for my new computer. wish me luck. hopefully, after the operation, i will be able to get back to my universe.

update: this is a little more difficult than it should be. got the 2.5 sata enclosure and was able to plug in my old hard drive. transferred some data, but some of the dat.files did not transfer over. trying to resolve the problem. i try to start the tbcb2 game and get the pop ups stating that certain dat. files arent there so the game cannot start. copied and pasted the files that i could but am missing the rating records file. have one from my main database, but it is not the exact same rr file as in my universe. will continue to try to solve the problem.

Yeah this is exactly why all my info gets put onto a zip drive every couple of days!
I also email myself a zipped copy of it everytime I back it up. |

Not paranoid at all are you Mike? Guess that happens when you lose your data. It only took once for me to back everything up. I never thought of emailing the zipped file.

Okay, here is the latest. I am still unable to transfer the fighter.dat and fighter.bak files from my universe. Luckily, I updated my backup to my universe on November 3, the last day that I simmed fights. The bad news is that I backed it up before I fought the last 4-5 fights so I may be missing a little bit of data. I dont think this will be much of a problem because I can just check on the info here to update the promotional fighter records and estimate the performance points. I am going to try to copy and paste or drag and drop the same files from my backed up universe and import them to my current b-town boxing universe. if this works, i will probably start resuming fights later this evening or early in the morning (my usual times for simming and reporting if you have been a part of the universe.) For those of you still checking in, thanks for your continued interest and sorry for the delay. Especially to the guys who have been here to start. But also for the guys that recently joined and must think that I am a flake now. Honestly, I have been having a problem with my old computer for a long time but didnt take it in because I do a lot of business on my laptop and couldnt afford to have any downtime. Ha, I guess that was a frickin mistake. Oh well, shouldnt have any problems anymore because this is a new computer and it works just fine. Thanks to mike, rom and cubs for the support the last few days.

Finally able to open universe after transferring fighter.dat files and rr.files but there are more fights missing than I thought. Cotto is only at 6-0 and Napoles at 5-0. So, I am going to see if I can get the old files from my old hard drive somehow. By the way, this sucks! I dont know why it is not letting me copy the old files to new hard drive.

Anybody out there computer literate? I am unable to transfer my fighter.dat file from my old hard drive to my new hard drive. It says that it is unable to read from source or file. I have tried to copy, drag, copy to disc, compressed zip but nothing seems to work. When I do a compressed zip file, it only copies 192kb of over 6k. Unfortunately, the backup copy of my fighter.dat file is not from the last day of my uni, it is from earlier and is missing some bouts. If I cant transfer this file, I guess the only alternative is to use this backup file and manually edit the bouts that are missing. It may take a little time to adjust, but would really like to save my previous file. Help!

Damn, man I wish I knew how to help you but I haven't a clue on why it's not letting you copy it over. The only reason I can think of is that the file is damaged in some way but like I said I don't know.

Finally, some good news. I still haven't been able to transfer or copy the fighter.dat file from my universe to the new hard drive but I was able to get my history.dat file transferred which was copied the last day of active fights in the universe. This will allow me to go over the history of fighters so that I can manually update the stats. I will do all the promotional fighters first, then the top 25 and individual title holders. Screw the fighters that dont have an impact on the universe. This will allow me to update the records to where they were before my computer crash and I can use the history to try to get the performance points and rankings as close to possible as they were. Sorry this has taken a long time, but I am finally getting a bit excited that this will finally resolve all the issues and let me get back to the action in the universe. I know everybody will be watching the Cotto - Mosely fight tonight so I can try to get some work done to get this thing going. Thanks for all the promoters being so patient and I hope to have all of you guys back when we are up and running!

Just finished all the managed promotional fighters. I think everything is pretty close to where it was. Going to start on the top 25 and then the individual champions. Almost there! The two fighters I am not sure of with their rankings are Povetkin and Fitzsimmons. I have to adjust a little with the percentage points but I dont think that there will be too much of a deviation from where your fighters were ranked to now.

We're back in business...
Marvin Hagler, USA, 4-0-0 (2) vs Henry Lamar, USA, 4-1-0
St. George Theater, Staten Island, NY, USA. Hagler starts the round with a big right hook then lands a combo that hurts Lamar. Lamar barely survives the round, 31-3. Hagler controls the 2nd round, 20-8. 13-6, for Hagler in the 3rd. Hagler seems to be settling in and isn’t as aggressive as he was at the start of the fight. The 4th is a close round, 12-7, in favor of Hagler. Hagler controls rounds 5-10 and puts Lamar down in the 11th with a wicked left hook. An uppercut puts Lamar down again at the end of the 12th round. Lamar makes it to the last round and finally seems to have won a round to end the one-sided fight. Winner: Hagler Result: (UD15) Cards: 146-136, 148-135, 150-132, all three cards in favor of Hagler Punch stats: 438-1076, 40.7% Hagler - 217-971, 22.3% Lamar |
