Boomerangs Bounce Back

Bluffton rode a 10-4 month to a big jump in the S251 standings, which continue to tighten up in the quest for the crown.

Stephensville is making a claim to the title but right behind them are three new OL teams - Victoria, Malaka and Philadelphia. There's still half a season and a lot of OL games to play so the Iron crown is still in play.

Code:
Our League Standings - I207 - Jul 5, 2027
			 W L	Pct
Stephensville Bears	14 6	.700
Victoria Vikings	17	10	.630
Melaka Armada 19	16	.543
Pa Athletic Club	10 9	.526
Frankenthal Retros	16	15	.516
Motown Stars 21	20	.512
Mudville Muffins	12	13	.480
Fancher Creek Pirates	11	14	.440
Arkham Horrors 5 7	.417
Gotham Knights 9	24	.273

The Freeloaders are now Our League compliant! We're currently 24-56 in Perfect and on track for relegation, though only two games behind the 28th place team. This will be username "atabakin2" for friending later in the week. I'll be sure to provide updates in case I somehow don't get pushed down to Diamond for next week.

Through the night in B248...not much happened. Daytona Beach & Ozark share the lead at the moment after New York went 2-2 in evening OL play.

REMAINING OUR LEAGUE SCHEDULE
Daytona Beach: 2 Home (vs PHI), 3 Away (3 @ NYP)
Ozark: 3 Home (3 vs PHI), 7 Away (4 @ JAN, 3 @ ASH)
New York: 3 Home (3 vs DB)
Asheboro: 11 Home (7 vs JAN, 4 vs OZA), 10 Away (10 @ JAN)
Janesville: 14 Home (10 vs ASH, 4 vs OZA), 7 Away (7 @ ASH)
Philadelphia: 5 Away (2 @ DB, 3 @ OZA)

Out of the three over .500, Ozark has the inside track as they have 7 games left against Our League competition. Meanwhile, if either Asheboro or Janesville get hot, they could still make a run at the crown. One thing's for sure, the race for the crown is heating up and will go down to the wire!

EDIT: It would help if I attached the fancy graphic.

You made it up to Perfect as a f2p? That is awesome.

Yep! Had a little help from scoring a Rendon in a challenge mode pack, which I turned around for 22K net.

Nice! I have gotten some decent Challenge Packs for my other teams, scored a Gold Pack once for each of them and have pulled a diamond and some golds for them as well. My OL team, however, is good at getting 3 bronzes and 3 irons, good for a princely 90 PP!

There's some Our League teams on the cusp of Perfect in Diamond right now, so I'm sure we'll have a little F2P league there eventually. The Cowboys are doing OK this year despite my playing everyone out of position to train them up. I finally bought the Silver Gwynn to replace the Bronze Gwynn, as I think the extra hitting ability will make up for the decrease in defense. Looking for maybe another outfielder and then I might DH Gwynn.

The pitching roster is filling out nicely with just one Silver card left in the bullpen -- I'm alternating it between Butch Metzer, Jeff Zimmerman, and Roberto Hernandez as none of them seem to be pitching well.

Since both kids at the house want to join the "Our League" and battle with minimum points (give Kushiel some competition), I have one additional candidate for consideration: Seattle Endless Summer - OL (fearthefive username)

Sarcasm aside....the kids watched the movie a while back after a long day at the beach. Everyone is hoping for a long endless summer now that the rain is starting to go away.
Team is stuck in Entry League for now but should see promotion by next week.

At the risk of angering the baseball gods...

My New Zealand Silver Fern (all card much be Silver All-Stars) is doing very well going into the All-Star break. As of this writing, they're 56/35 (.615) with a 9.5 game lead in the I237 NC Central. In fact, they have the 2nd best record in the whole league.

I've leaned pretty heavily on Defense and a small ball strategy. Fingers crossed for the rest of the season....

I love how we've gotten kids into this. Warms my heart.

Until you realize that your 9/10 year old kids start to live in the past

Before, I would always hear names of players on current MLB teams and cards that they traded with friends.
Now they talk about Aparicio, Gwynn, Cronin, Boudreax and lots of other names that make no sense to any of their buddies.

As he jogged to first base the other week, he looks over and yells that he will have an average of Rod Carew tonight. All parents turned their heads to me and looked clueless....I could tell nobody else on the bleachers around us played OOTP.

Or when you pick them up from school (on Jackie Robison day) and you hear that he told his teacher that Jackie Robinson should not have played baseball every day. "He should have platooned since he hits LHPs a lot better". Priceless!!!

We are happy....ever since they got into OOTP, they dropped all their interest in the popular violent games and they quickly learned what works and how to compete with lesser players/teams.

Nice of the teacher not to ask him for what options the Dodgers had for a platoon....

You think like me. I asked him to make a list of all the player he preferred over Jackie and then look up the cards and years of the cards.
He admitted he was wrong and merged a few decades of baseball together.
The funny part....a lot of people on the forum make the same mistake! "How come my Legend hitter is not hitting above .300 against all these pitchers from the last few decades?"

Going through the cards and real stats listed in the game made him appreciate how good he was and made him go through all his real cards to look for Jackie Robinson cards.

They often play off-line games like "What about Baseball, Perfect Pitch baseball, ..." and use their baseball cards for their own rosters.
Jackie Robinson is now his go-to 2B player.

That's awesome. I was like that as a kid. I knew who General Crowder was due to Sports Ilustrated baseball all time all-stars when most other kids were "who"?

Let's make sure to get the names of all the new people coming in at the lower levels so we can suck them into the funfest that we're having in Iron!
