Breaking news...IBL record shattered!

Game was 0-0 going into the 8th, can't fathom that line score with a no-decision (like the night RJ k'd 20 Reds!)

Yankees, Iron Pigs make major swap....

Chicago acquires Cruz, picks, for Rea and prospects.
The Iron Pigs have agreed to send the Staten Island Yankees SP Orlando Rea, OF Stan Cannon, OF Ted Russell and RP Jorge Pacheco, their 2024 1st and 2nd round draft choices, to Staten Island for OF Roberto Cruz, RP prospect Michael Byington, 3B prospect Jared Scantlebury, 30 year old LH RP Jonasz Plazewski and the Yankees 2024 1st and 2nd round draft choices.
Rea enters the Yanks rotation as their #2, Cannon will hit 5th and play left and Pacheco moves into a setup role.
We have optioned out Orlando Perez to make room for Plazewski, giving us 3L 3R once again, Cruz is a monster prospect at 25, injuries have been the issue. Huge power, huge bat, great legs outstanding defender. Byington is a great young RH power arm and Scantlebury is a great defender and a young bat prospect at 3rd. The draft picks move us up enough to matter in both rounds.

GREAT GAMES-Jerry Grant (MICH) went 4-5 with 3 HR's and 6 RBI's in Michigan's 21-12 win over West Michigan. It marked the 3rd time in team history a Wolverine slugger went deep 3 times.

MINORS NEWS-White Caps prospect 19 year old Louie Ginger (1B) is hitting .384-3-24 on the year and his 2-3 day yesterday extended his hitting streak to 31 games. Ginger was signed out of Wales in 2020 and is currently the #2 IBL prospect.

DRAFT NEWS-1st round draft choice Carlos Hernandez (3rd overall pick) and the team could not come to terms. We did not have the leeway to move up, and he was not willing to move down. We'll get that same pick in next years draft and he'll return to school for a 3rd time.

MINORS NEWS-White Cap prospect Louie Ginger went 2-4 and his 1st inning single extended his hitting streak to 33 games. I will have to check, and I will, but I believe that is the longest streak in IBL history. The 19 year old is playing for AA Chesapeake.

GREAT GAMES-Stanford Wilson (NO) went 3-3 with 3 solo HR's to record the 2nd 3 homer day in Voodoo club history. The 29 year old is hitting .232-9-14 on the year.

Hawaii owner Bill Murphy Sr. passed away today. The club issued a short press release stating what everyone already knew, his son Bill Jr would be taking over the club. This doesn't bode well for fans of the Warriors as many know Jr was pushing Sr to cut payroll and fire the entire staff for the past 12 months.

Standings Leaders Aug 14th

The K race in the Coastal is insane. Chavez has slipped after Greene had an 18 RBI week, but he's got an outside shot at the triple crown.

August comes to a close, the stretch run begins....

Philly turning what I thought would be 1 of the 2 races left into a wash out. Michigan and West Michigan appear poised to battle it out. How many k's for Figueroa when all is said and done?

NOTE-In 3 seasons since he left Chicago Ron Miller has been nothing short of awesome. Winning last years Hank Aaron Award for starters. He's played 449 games hitting .304 with 104 HR's and 319 RBI's while scoring 321 runs. He's gotten on at a .411 clip as well. The supplemental pick we received for him turned into RHP Jim Burns whom we took 34th overall out of Bradley College. He went 15-4 4.12 in AA last year in 23 starts, 159.1 IP 159 H and 159 K's. He got off to a rocky start in AAA this year before blowing his elbow out in his 3rd start and will be out until at least April of next year.

Trujillo 7.2-6-2-0-5-3 gives up 2 unearned in the 8th on back to back Blakeway errors. Drake 8-6-0-0-0-6 leaves up 2-0. 3 runs in the 9th to win. Miranda 2-4 2B (36) RBI (79) Blakeway 2-4 RBI (55)

9/5 Off Day Bryant Thomas went the distance on a 3-hitter to beat Houston 4-0. The win moves Bryant to 15-8 3.21 on the year. He was our 11th round draft choice in 2014 out of UCLA. He has always had the power arm but our scouts felt his command would be a huge problem. While he certainly has had command problems, the trade sending him to Tulsa for IF John Overhill might end up as one of our worst ever. Since he broke into the IBL in 2018 he's gone 84-43 4.03 in 176 starts over 1199 IP. He's K'd 1356 to 657 walks, while yielding 947 hits. He's tossed 6 career SHO, 24 career CG's and has a .540 QS%. He's never thrown less than 225 innings in any full season. He's a 2 time all star and has had 3 15 K games as well as a World Series Title in 2020. He's been in the top 10 in wins 3 times, IP 4 times, K's 4 times leading the league in 2019 (279) ERA 2 times, BABIP 3 times, H/9 4 times coming in 1st 2x and 2nd 2x, K/0 4 times and VORP 2 times. John Overhill ended up getting 21 total AB's in Chicago before he was dealt, along with RP prospect Ernest Lindner, to Pittsburgh for OF prospect Pancho Villarreal who was the IBL's #54 prospect entering this year and hit .308/.449/.503 in 101 AA games with 10 HR's and 30 SB's before being called up to AAA Tulsa where he has hit .366/.527/.512 in 12 games.

Standings Leaders Sept 11th

Really 1 race left, with one as a potential. The Northeastern looks to go to the wire, Michigan and West Michigan trying to take the title. They finish the season with a 3 game set in Michigan!
Fresno is 8-2 and Sacramento 6-4 in their last 10, to get the Grizzlies within 5. they have a 4 game series on the 23rd to the 26th this month that might matter.
Alaska and Arizona are at 5.5, with them splitting a 4 gamer last week. They meet in Arizona for the seasons final 3 games.
Two batting races that are going down to the wire it looks like, great stat races all around actually.

Cool

Thanks to the insanely talented and incredibly dedicated hard core guys here, I now have all 130 minor league franchises with custom jerseys and hats. I went through this board and found compilations, downloaded them, and set about an 8-9 hour task of finding a jersey and hat for every minor league teaM
Now back to the regularly scheduled pennant race

WEEK 26 down to the wire in stat races everywhere...

WEEK: 26

Jackson 2-3 HR 2 RBI's (79) Hutchinson (AZ) 3-5 2 2B's (14) 2 RBI's (25) SB (31) Martinez 6-6-3-3-2-5

9/23 DAY 7 CHI 6
W-Canales (6-10) L-Casas (4-8)
HR DAY-Torres (29) Frederick (2)
Casas blows a 3 run lead 1.2-4-4-4-1-0 Rocha 6-8-3-3-2-5 Salinas 3-4 2B (30) 2 RBI's (86)

NOTES-Was going to take Casas out halfway through but I have to find out if he can close. This was his 9th blown save. He has the best arm in the league, by far, and everything else is exceptional, his control is still perfecting itself, but he cannot seem to get those final 3 outs. It could be he's might Rivera in a Rivera/Wettland duo, but that would mean I need to find my Wettland this winter.

GREAT GAMES-Philly's Pedro Roman went 4-5 with 3 HR's in a 6-4 Patriot win over Baltimore. The 27 year old, acquired earlier in the year from New York, is having a huge power year, hitting .239-42-110 in 138 total games (.269-26-68 in just 66 games with Philadelphia) The win also clinched the Keystone for Philadelphia.

9/24 CHI 7 DAY 4
W-Bass (2-3) L-Thomas (3-3) S-Cruz (30)
HR CHI-Cruz (16) DAY-Torres (30) Greene (41) Lopez (13)
Rush 3-5 2B (6) 2 RBI's (17) Bass 5-9-3-3-1-2 Pen 4-3-1-1-1-3

STUFF-Ernesto Cruz, not expected to close much, if at all, this year, has now saved 30+ games for the 11th time in 12 seasons. His only season under 30 was 2015 when he was injured in his 22nd appearance that year (BTW he was 1-0 18 SV 0.00 in that season!). He's the IBL's all time saves leader at 445.

WEEK 26 SUMMARY
FL POTW-Christian Wilkins (AZ) 14-30 2 HR's 14 RBI's (.263-38-118)
CL POTW-Jean Poulet (SAC) 13-22 2 HR's 5 RBI's (.312-16-61)

ACTIVE CAREER LEADER: OBP
.419 Thomas Hood (FRE)
.419 Rich Alfred (FRE)
.419 Todd Helton (-)
.411 Fred Gil (BUF)
.411 Angelo Gomez (EP)

WEEK 26 POWER RANKINGS
1) Chicago (1)
2) San Antonio (2)
3) Philadelphia (3)
4) Sacramento (5)
5) West Michigan (-)
OUT Brooklyn (19) Wow, thankfully they clinched as they went 0-7 scoring just 26 runs in 7 games while yielding 44.

The Tulsa Iron Pigs swept the Tuscaloosa Hooks (Corpus Christi) 3 games to 0 to win their 4th AAA World Series Title and their 2nd in a row.
