Nice little surprise for Southpaws this morning

So I discovered that in the three bronze tournaments that I had entered before retiring last night, that I had won one, come in 2nd in another, and come in 3/4th place in the third. The result: I had 18 standard packs to open from overnight action.

But I didn't hold out much hope, as I started opening packs. In the previous fifty packs I had opened, I had a smattering of live golds and no diamonds. The best card I had drawn in that span was a 100 Live Giolito, which goes for quick-sell value.

In the first 12 packs I opened, my luck continued. The best cards I drew were a couple of historical silvers. Then on pack 13, I drew the two diamonds shown below:

Two packs later, I drew another nice historical diamond, shown in the next image:

96 Will White is a cornerstone of the Tom Glavine mission with an L10 of 55k. 96 Elberfeld is an important piece of the Tony Fernandez mission with an L10 of 48k.

So, all in all, my team was very productive while I slept. Now I only have a couple of decisions to make: do I use those cards as linchpins to go ahead and try to complete those missions, or do I sell them and bank the profits. Thoughts?

Surprise for sure, but how nice?

So, I haven't checked in on my other two teams in quite awhile, and I had the thought that perhaps I'd use the friends list with them, even though they're not OL, just so I might get a peek more often. Anyway, so I did that, and they each had nearly 30K in PP, so I bought packs with the points. They also each had finished some missions, which I hadn't been checking, which added to their total. I also had 60 packs from Port Ruppert, since I've been playing FHM7 a lot this week and have been ignoring the Mundys.

So, in the end, I had 130 odd packs to open and man it stunk. Two live diamonds, both Yasmil Grandl, or whatever his name is, who only sells for 4,000. Maybe half a dozen live golds and two lousy OL golds, both of which won't get out of the minors for me. I actually quit with 40 packs left when I pulled the attached screenshot pack. I don't what it was telling me, but I took it as a sign that enough was enough.

The Kaipo Desert Eagles will be joining OL starting Monday. As of press time, they have completed all the new Team Missions except for the Dodgers. They are currently top of their division in B232 at 77-63, riding a 32-12 post ASB record and are potentially in line for promotion to silver.

They were in OL in 20 and 21 as the Nico-Nico Kneecappers and Otonokizaka Muse respectively. This year, the theme for the majority of my teams is Final Fantasy.

Only things left to do before Monday is to get rid of my remaining lives (Gerrit Cole, Tim Anderson, Miguel Rojas), and potentially upgrade at 2nd base because they won't be able to get away with running Jose Oquendo there much longer.

Bronze Update

After losing 2 of 3 to Asheboro, Bluffton is eliminated from the race for the OL crown. Asheboro needs to win 3 of 4 from Otsego Lake to win the crown outright.

If there is a split Baltimore and Asheboro will be tied at .614 winning percentage. Baltimore would be the winner as they had 6-0 record vs. Asheboro, the first tie breaker.

However, with the PT WC race tight it is possible the Barons have to play 163rd game vs. Bluffton. So it would decide a wildcard and possibly the crown. Baltimore currently leads that race by 1.5 games. Three wins by the Asheboro and the extra game, if played would have no bearing on the outcome OL standings.

In PT play Asheboro has all but won its division. Baltimore or Bluffton will be the second WC. As of now Otsego has climbed above the relegation line and Gettysburg is one game away from getting above the line themselves.

Incoming OL team Kaipo just got the last piece they needed to complete the team missions.

Remaining lives will be quicksold after Playoff Sunday, and they will be fully compliant.

Attached are the regular Kaipo logo, and a textless logo for crown purposes.

Okay Magus, you're on the spreadsheet. Folks in bronze and silver, please take note.

It all comes down to a 3-game series between Hartford and Shoebox, which begins at 8PM (ET). If Hartford wins 2 of 3, the Whalers take the title. If they don't, the title goes to Gear Terrace.

I don't how I have managed to make a team that does ok in PT but fails completely when the opposing scoreboard includes -OL.

We here in Boston are pleasantly surprised that we had such a good season in Silver. We're in a play-in game for a wildcard spot, and we led the OL division for much of the season until the inevitable Sox Swoon set in in September. I'm guessing the Penguins outlasted us once again for the OL title, but I'm not sure.

Baron's are Kings

The Baltimore Barons are the 2029 Bronze crown winners. Asheboro needed to win 3 of 4 vs. Otsego Lake to unseat them but dropped 3 of 4.

In PT play: Asheboro is heading to the playoffs as a division winner. Bluffton won 11 of its last 13 games to take the second wildcard by one game over Baltimore. Overall the Boomerangs have gone 37-17 since August 1st.

Promotion/Relegation for next week:

Promotion to Silver: Asheboro

Staying in Bronze: Baltimore, Otsego Lake, Sugar Hill

Dropping to Iron: Gettysburg

To be determined: Bluffton- If the Boomerangs win their WC game they go up to silver, if not they stay in bronze

Boston Outlasts Algoma to Capture OL S291 Crown

The top two each stumbled a bit bit down the stretch, but a 3-3 mark in the final month was enough to lift the Red Sox just barely over the Penguins, who slumped to 5-8 on the way home. Third place Port Ruppert set the top space, but 4-2 was not enough to dig themselves out of their hole.

PT playoff tree attached. No team will be relegated. With only six promotion, playoff results will determine who might be heading to gold.

OR...

Actually, Sunday Drivers take the title

If Gear Terrace and Shoebox can win their wild card games, they will join Sunday in promotion on Monday. Hartford just misses out on all fronts.

Still Need...

Stone, gold, and diamond. Will check back later. Got some things to do. By the way, I've attached a possible logo for the Sunday Drivers. I don't think you ever posted one.

Big congratulations to Vyshka and the Cedar Rapids Reds!

OL gives a bit of life to an otherwise soul destroying experience .

* I'd like to point out that the Reds only went 10-9 against Paxville, so it was their results against the Perfectos and Tornadoes that sealed it.

The Penguins had a fairly big September swoon. Congratulations to Boston Red Sox and Boulder City Wreckers! The good news is the Penguins did hang on to a wildcard spot so they are hoping for renewed energy and rally caps. Good to see lots of OL teams in the playoffs so good luck to all.
