Too bad about Dempsey Mike, it's always nice to see a last hurrah. I have a fresh young Dempsey (11-0-0) that just took the Irish belt from Irish Jack Burke.

Dempsey still has some time. He retired once but he was lucky enough to come back at prime. Although he automatically has to roll for retirement at the end of every year. So the clock is ticking.

Driscoll handles Yanger

December 18, 1910

Jem Driscoll (CH) (38-6-1) scored a UD15 over Benny Yanger (8/10) (18-2) to make his first defense of the IBF title.

Yanger gave Driscoll a fight but his inexperience showed through (Yanger was at pre) and Driscoll gave him a tough veteran lesson as Yanger tired down the stretch.

Driscoll's left eye began to swell in the 6th and Yanger was dominating the round, but he got careless and was dropped late in the round. (this was the round I complained about in tech support)

Driscoll dropped Yanger again in the 13th as he coasted to a victory.

I had it 145-140. George Thorn, at ringside, had it 146-140. The official judges had it 145-138/146-138/144-141.

On the undercard

BW - Dave Sullivan (10/9) (18-3-1) UD10 Dan Rowan (18/20) (12-2-2) (both at pre)

HW - Frank Mantell (8/6) (19-5) SD10 John Knifton (69/76) (20-19-1) (mantell at pre ... good win over a tough veteran)

MW - Jack Moffat (59/53) (13-12-1) UD10 Fighting Kennedy (44/47) (9-8-1) (kennedy at pre ... kennedy moved up to MW for this fight)

LW - Bobby Dobbs (UR) (7-0) SD8 Mark Higgans (UR) (4-7-2) 77-75 Dobbs (both at pre for this club fight ... very unimpressive showing for Dobbs)

FW - Hugh McWinters (UR) (9-1-1) UD8 Billy Murphy (club) (17-23) (mcwinters at pre, murphy at post for this club fight)

A TKO while losing badly? Cuts or just a furious round?

It was a good stoppage ... cut happened in the second, reopened in the 7th and 8th, stopped in the 9th and I even had Vaughn on protect cut.

McGovern regains title

December 30, 1910

Terry McGovern (13/CH) (34-7-4) scored a UD15 over Al Delmont (CH/5) (22-9-2) to regain the WBA Bantamweight title he lost two years ago to Delmont.

Mcgovern wore down Delmont and took control of the fight in the later rounds. It appeared at first that it would a copy of the first fight, with Delmont out boxing McGovern and Terry looking to land the one big shot.

But as the middle rounds came on McGovern started putting his punches together and slowed down Delmont. Both of Delmont's eyes were swelling shut and he was dropped in the 13th.

I had it 143-140. Andreas Raht, ringside expert, had it 142-141. The official judges had it 142-140/143-139/143-139.

On the undercard

HW - Mexican Pete Everett (73/51) (13-5) UD10 Bob Armstrong (28/52) (25-13-5) 96-89 (everett at pre, 6 total knockdowns in this fight)

LH - Dan Flynn (36/36) (12-8-3) DRAW10 Jim Carr (40/41) (8-5-3) (carr at pre and stepped up to LH for this fight)

HW - Bill Farnam (93/89) (16-18-1) TKO5 Harry Laing (59/90) (14-5-2) (laing at pre)

LW - Yank Kenny (44/34) (10-6) UD10 Jack Lynch (UR/35) (12-3) (both at pre)

LW - George Taylor (UR) (9-1) UD8 Frank Bartley (UR/56) (9-6) (both at pre for this club fight, bartley moved to main after the fight)

You were right and I was wrong Matt. Just bet against whatever I predict at the moment and you can't go wrong. I'm on a losing streak.

Excellent stuff Mike. I continue to enjoy the LBA.

Thanks for the file attachments Mike. It helps to catch-up on your universe if a guy has missed some computer time for one reason or another.

Bob Fitzsimmons will make a comeback this year ... he will come back in prime condition.

It seems alot of the retired fighters have 0 pp. I think this might be a good starting point. It would leave him ranked 42.
