Curious how Shoeless Joe is doing in your league? I see Cicotte pitched so I figured Jackson has to be there too. Also wondering how ole Burleigh is doing since you traded him a while back? Have to agree with Jabez, that was one of the gutsier trades I've seen made. Of course hindsight is 20/20, right?
Lastly, how is Ken Williams (Browns) doing career wise? I realize he was on an AL team but in your league he may have been traded. Williams was the AL homerun champ in 1922. (39 vs Ruth's 35) He is also probably the best player out there NOT in the HOF which is robbery in my opinion. Thanks. |

Quote:
Burleigh Grimes is 5-6 for the Cubs with a 4.17 ERA in 15 starts. Waite Hoyt also in that deal is a little used Reliever for them and is now sitting on their reserve. Pat Ragan the third Pitcher in that deal is 3-8 in 14 starts with a 4.93 ERA in 13 starts. Our end of that deal: Lefty Tyler has been relegated to my Bull Pen this year due to younger Boston Starters but has pitched admirably in 13 outings having a 3.62 ERA in 27.1 IP One thing to remember is that Hitters are starting to take over the League. The League Ave ERA in the AL right now is 4.36 and in the NL it is 4.11.... a .280 Hitter now a days is weak as the League Averages are .292 and .294 respectively. Ken Williams is a nobody in this league having hit 1 career Homer in 627 AB and is now 32 yrs old

Well, with his Injury and his days off Pitching it will be close whether he has enough PA's to qualify for BA Title. Right now over the last 68 games he needs to average 3.7 Plate appearances per game to get to the required number of 475 (Based on 3.1 PA per game in 154 game schedule).
But babe (.417) is also 39 points higher than O'Doul (.378) who is leading the AL in AVE right now. There is a little known rule that if you can add the number of required AB's to a player's stats without giving him credit for a hit and his average is still Higher he can win the Batting Title with fewer PA's than what is required. So if Ruth is 10 AB's short and you figure his average with the same hits and 10 additional AB's and he still has a Higher AVE He will be credited with the Bartting title....now the question is "does OOTP actually employ this particular obscure rule in it's equation for figuring the batting ave leader? Probably not. But it is still very possible that Ruth could win the Triple Crown!
