The earlier James Ellroy thread inspired an outpouring of alliteration

Not really much of an apology. "I'm sorry, but I'd do it again if I had to." My wife wouldn't let me get away with that.

Only people he apologized to were the kids who had to see it. He said he didn't regret it, and also said that the instigator is to blame.

Wonder why Marcello Lippi resigned as coach of Italy? They have difficult Euro 2008 qualifiers coming up. Seems kinda selfish to walk out right now.

I would guess it is because the only way for Italy now is down. He's won the biggest competition in international football, and anything less than victory in other tournaments would be a disappointment.
And he also made mention that he and his son had been attacked personally in the match-fixing scandal, which he contends he has not been involved in.

Most international coaches quit so they can get back to day to day football, international football you play a game then maybe not see your players or play another game for a couple of months.

did he sign with the Red Bulls as I believe I heard? I originally thought he was staying on with the team until the end of the year...perhaps he still is, but is he moonlighting?

When do you want him to resign, then? This is the best possible time.
