As for making a pro/relg league out if, sure that could be done. The mod comes in a s a separate stats folder that can be referenced in lieu of the default one in any set-up the game can do with the current, default /stats folder.
I really want to use this mod. But I also really like historical minors. I know I can modify MiLBTeams.csv if I'm really ambitious and assign teams to the 4 fictional teams - I've done this before, I can accomplish it.

I'm wondering what's stopping me from simply finding all 212 players in the MiLBMaster.csv and deleting their records? Wouldn't that eliminate the problem of duplicates? Is there another risk I'm not considering?

The csv file has no bearing on the workings of the game in this regard, IE for the players. You'd need to get Doom's tool and attack the DBs themselves.

That said, you won't necessarily have dupes of every player. I'm up to 1918 using a workaround for historical minors and have only encountered a few. It all depends on the difference between the unmodded version's rookie year and the modded version's. To be honest, I haven't 100% figured out exactly what triggers the unmodded versions sneaking in but I think it occurs when the unmodded rookie season is before the modded one, which makes the most sense. When they do sneak in (obviously you need to catch them), you can just delete them and the modded version will still come in as planned. Not sure what happens if you don't catch and delete them and hope I never find out, at least not first-hand.

What I am seeing is that the MiLB stats seem to be getting merged on the modded versions with historical minors on but all that seems to be doing is messing about with some of the retirement years.

Check out my Dodgers save in my sig and you'll see this in action.

For historical minors "on", you could do the editing you mentioned be it through the csv file or just keeping an eye out and deleting the dupes as they come in and appear in-game. It be easier to just toggle on the NeL MLEs from the historical wizard menu. The stats in the mod are the ones incorporated by OOTPD for that option. Whereas the mod swaps the players out 1 for 1 and puts them side by side with the white players of the era in the appropriate csvs - and that is much easier imo for the game to understand and use without complications - the in-game option to turn on that toggle, treats the MLE stats more like neutralized stats where programming send the game off to an alternative internal spreadsheet to build the ratings for players (in this case select NeL players). While I find all the programming and reconciling and bug fixing in that approach still has some imperfections, that may be best for a game with real minors on. It was that kind of flexibility OOTPD sought when they took that alternative approach to integrating the MLE stats.

Interesting. The CSV definitely is used for Teams/MiLBTeams each season, but I have never really modified the players files. I have Doom's tool.

Apologies for the unintended ambiguity, I was referring to the players. You can use the csv for imports but not for edits.
