Man, this season is nuckin futs. In 2023 the pitching staff was the big strength. In 2024, it's the opposite.

I don't sweat bullpen performance too much because bullpens are volatile by nature, and ripe for over/under performance.

But my starting pitching has me confused. Anthony is like the #12 pitcher in the whole league, and isn't that great to be honest. Frota was outstanding in 23, not so much in 24. Most of the guys are in or nearing peak age seasons, but have taken a huge step back.

One of the major aspects seem to be the increase in walk rate, across the board.

If anyone reading this crap can help me figure it out, I'd be grateful.

My first thought was that maybe my catcher was poor, but I drafted the guy like 3 overall in the Inaugural Draft because he was a good defensive catcher.

Then I thought maybe it was my pitching coach, but I recalled that I was focused on hiring coaches that were very good at what I needed them to be great at.

Been playing, and having a blast, more than updating ... so here's everything to date ... the end of June.

I'll do leaguewide updates at All-Star Break, as well as, player profiles for each of the Shire players, MVP watch, CYA matchups, etc.

Shires have been improving and made big steps forward in June, just like in 2023.

Team, all the way around, has been performing much better ... particularly the Starting Rotation.

On May 26th, the Shires trade starting DH/C Resendiz and 2023 All-Star LHP Manny Munoz to Windy City for 2 prospects.

I sopped the players and not seeing anything I wanted, I switched the criteria to "prospect package" and one team offered 2 players that looked interesting and could fulfill needs.

The bulk of the team in 27 and under, so any player of value at age 30 or over, is subject to being shopped.

GM is hopeful that Quero can take over at 1B, freeing up Quiroz for trade.

Quero has been a pleasant surprise.

GM anticipates FG to be the every day DH ... it has not gone as planned.

Edit: Guardiola's stats in the player stat section are at 3A, where he's a monster, ML not so much.

Rumors hint that if the Shires are not in serious contention by the trade deadline, CF Hunt, CL Payne, and 1B Quiroz will be on the move for a package of prospects.
