Just a quick question -- are the Expos the MLB Expos? Didn't realize you could trade with the MLB although I know a few MLB guys moved in earlier in the season

But also wanted to say how cool everything has been. Love each, for lack of better word, "type" (Linus Loves, Schroder Files, etc.) of post you combine. The graphics and writing are top notch and its been fun following not just the Beagles and their league, but seeing what's going on in the MLB as well

Hey mate, yep that trade was with the MLB Expos - Qualls was at their AAA club on a MiLB contract so we get him as a "cleanskin" on MSL rates - a bit of a quirk I'll have to make sure I don't abuse. Not like he was an MLB powerhouse or anything - 223/238/302 career slash over just 144 PA - so we'll probably look at flipping him for a more permanent solution next year before recalc reality hits him. But there will be times where I'll be able to game the system and I don't want to do that.

Anyone can trade with anyone here, hopefully all will be kept in some sort of realistic check by the disparity in budgets, with the MSL running at around 1/10th the size of the MLB. But with some of those better-known guys like Aparicio, retentions by the MLB club were the only way the trade could proceed. He's on like $180k vs the high MSL budget of about $800k. This is about as far as all the testing I did for this universe went, so I'm hoping it all holds up OK from here. There's no Draft, so rookies go straight onto their IRL clubs, and I've got the full modern day FA rules in except they get it after 5 rather than 6 years, with Arb after 2. My hope is that this will price the good guys in their prime out of the MSL so that we only get rookies / fringe guys and vets on the way to the retirement village coming in. That should also give us a fairly close representation of the main elements of the IRL MLB each year.

Glad you're liking the thematic. Peanuts is one of my favourite things in the entire world, so to incorporate it here brings me untold joy.

I'm a firm believer that the universe speaks to us constantly but the other noise in our head often blocks out what it is trying to tell us. Case in point this save. Despite the Beagles logo featuring Snoopy, despite the fact I was actually reading a Charles Schulz biography as I was prepping all of this up, despite the abovementioned obsession with all things Peanuts-related, this save very nearly revolved around the Crisfield Crabbers.... Can't even imagine that now.
