At the very least it would be good if there were a 'cancel trade' option when playing in commisioner mode, that would allow you to reverse AI trades that made no sense. It would return players/picks to their previous teams and remove the transaction from player history and team logs.

It may not be the most comfortable thing of the world, but you can actually do any edit you wish and save as a new quickstart

For example, 300 wins and 60 shutouts in 800 games in the NHL can get you into the Hall of Fame. With enough shutouts, you could get there by winning 41 games per season (50% of each season) for 8 seasons, or 30 games per season (36.5%) for 10 seasons. But with a 50-ish game European season, those totals aren’t realistic. Similarly, a player could lead their national team up through the IIHF ranks without ever playing in the NHL and be a legend in their country, but never be recognized in the game, even if we manage in that country. “Famous players” and other honors should be relative per context, like the regular awards. Related to this, a more transparent view of the hall of fame voting/calculation would be appreciated. How many votes did each player get? (Why?) And so on.
I am sure adding IIHF Hall of Fame would solve this. After all they have Bibi Torriani award which is exactly what you described here

There should be the ability to compare the stats of players over their careers, head to head, and career stat comparisons, if its not in the game already. Like how the Hockey Reference website has.

Has there been any word on whether international leagues will remain in the game? Asking since most of the leagues ended up being pulled from OOTP 24.

After going back to OOTP for a month, I have a few things I would like added here that I am surprised have not been previously added.

1. Be able to take over award voting for awards as a commissioner
2. Be able to make custom playoffs
3. Be able to unretire players
4. Be able to edit all leagues and expand them, it really bites to click on EIHL and see "it's not possible to edit EIHL"
5. Be able to sign players to contracts in commissioner mode without having to edit them into contracts
6. Better AI trades or the ability to just turn them off

Just some gripes for how I would like to play this game

The three biggest things I would like to see are the following:

1. A pre game editor
2. A revamped PP tactical system where you can more easily dictate what’s going on and have a 4th forward on the PP unit be effective.
3. Being able to dictate weightings or influence award nominations/voting. It seems that every year if McDavid is healthy and somewhere near the top of the scoring lists he automatically wins the Hart.

Better AI lineup choices (especially in regards to special teams) would be awesome also.

A few ideas for FHM10

Hi Jeff,

I have loved the changes to FHM in recent years. Congratulations. You guys keep making it better. In that spirit, I hope you will consider a few more tweaks:

1) The goalie selection in GM-only sim mode remains frustrating, as all too often my $7M goalie gets <20 starts and the backup plays almost all the games. I know this is a constant drone of others as well, but it remains the one thing that stands out.

2) I haven't noticed whether this has changed, but in GM mode, it would be great to have dynamic ratings for coaches and scouts. Over a few years, head coaches gain experience, but lose their ability to motivate (a.k.a. they lose the room). An assistant coach could be developed by being part of a winning team, gaining experience and, in some cases, eventually learning enough to get poached away.

2.a) This might be too complicated, but scouts should also be dynamic, gaining value when the players they recommend succeed. Having an annual report card for each scout (by the head scout) would be a fun addition to the management process.

3) Just as the owner does a monthly report for the GM, the GM should be able to discuss strategy with the head coach. The GMs could tell the coaches to focus on developing youth instead of playing veterans. They could tell them to give more ice time to a few players for the purposes of showcasing them for trades. They could tell the coach how to split the load for the goalies (see above). I am sure there are many great ideas that could come from this forum.

Again, these are just suggested tweaks. I love this game and look forward to whatever comes in FHM10.

Also when generating a schedule can we not have so many double headers, i normally get about 60% of my games as double headers

Last night I noticed that 99% of the time in FHM, the Stanley Cup finalists come from teams that finiashed in the top 10% of the league. I noticed only once or twice in the last 20 seasons of my sim has a low seeded team made it to the finals (as the Panthers are doing this year, and many, many teams have done in the past) Be nice if these underdogs cropped up more in FHM.

Also, over at https://records.nhl.com/chi/franchis...-season-record they list where a team finiahed in the division, conference and overall. Like to see that in FHM, as well as where they finished in the playoffsa that year.

I suspect this would be rather difficult to pull off well. I assume that the success of teams in the playoffs depends on the matchups, personnel, and tactics. AI as general manager is really hard to get right (as in matching the exact way a real GM would operate), and as a result you should expect less parity than in real life. But if there's even a little bit less parity, then there's a lot fewer significant upsets.

They could code it to where there's a random element, where a certain seed defeats a higher seed with a certain likelihood, but I guarantee that will start an internet protest haha.

That should probably be sub-titled 'Get AI to handle cap issues in a more believable way'.
