There does`nt seem to be enough on the plate options available....."Swing away" and "bunt for a hit" seems to be a little basic to me....If you had ball by ball plays, you could designate the batter to have a more defensive or offensive plate attitude depending on the count.............
I`m sure there is room for more options here........

The ability to actually assign your scouts to various players, teams or areas to find out about and to recieve E-mailed scouting reports on :-

1. Your next opposition in advance (Hot, Cold for example).
2. A player you are interested in.
3. New freeagents who would fill you weak spots well
4. Players who you have noticed but may not be as good as you think.
5. Another team`s Minor league games.

This would make the scouts earn their money and interact with you more..They would be able to express their opinions and maybe influence your decisions a little.

Suggestion

Make the fan interest more difficult to increase. Making a profit is too easy...

I'd like to be able to save a game-in-progress when playing in Manager Mode. Sometimes, real life intrudes on my managing career. Usually in the top of the 2nd.

In general, the logo graphics in OOTPB are very poor.

I wish that whereever there is a place for a logo, that the logo would be clear and readable.

The logos only look real good on the Game Options screen...
and part of the time on the Main Game screen.

This is one of the several "basic little details" that are needed to improve the game...others like the basic play occurences that are missing from the game (no dropped throw errors..no dropped infield flies, etc).

I have learned in my work experience that paying attention to the little things and basic details makes a great difference to the finished product.

IN OOTP6, PLEASE GET THE BASICS DOWN PAT before you add new features.

THANKS FOR LISTENING... AND THANKS FOR BEING SO RESPONSIVE TO OUR REQUESTS.

Very minor suggestion but since Marcus has stated that he is working on another patch it couldn't hurt to consider fixing this problem. On the team Transaction page for the minor league teams the word Record follows the team name and precedes the actual record. The problem is that the team name usually overwrites on top of this and become very ineligible. We should be able to tell that the numbers represented are the team record and really don't need to be told as such.

Please get rid of the word "record" for all minor teams on the Transaction page.

Thank you.

Options LOCK

I know that this has probably been discussed before but it really couldn’t hurt to mention it again.

Could we please get a “lock” on the drop down options for the team rosters screen and various others that do not work as one would hope? Every time I want to look at a specific type of stats on the roster screen, such as salary info, I have to keep reselecting that option whenever a change is made for other options. This means that if I want to see the salary info for catchers I must select the option after selecting catchers. If I want to then see the same info but for left fielders then I have to select left fielders first and then the salary info option again. This becomes very tedious and annoying.

Thanks.

Lightbulb Automatic Expansion?

Make "Automatic Expansion" a league option based upon the entire league's finances.

For example, are more than 55% (completely arbitrary number at this point) of the teams doing well (what defines "doing well"?) for more than 5 years in a row (once again arbitrary)...? If the criteria is met, then the game will announce there will be a expansion (one or two teams?) in two seasons time (off-season draft, etc).

The message from the league/computer:

"October 5, 2003 Due to the positive economic indicators and increased fan interest through-out the league, the *LEAGUE NAME* has announced plans to establish additional franchise(s) in *CITY* and *CITY*. These teams will draft amateurs in this upcoming draft and there will be an expansion draft after the conclusion of the 2004 season. The teams will begin play opening day 2005."

It's rough but the general idea is there. I think the idea of an expansion draft is fun... only makes it MORE challenging to keep our teams (dynasties?) together.

Love the ideas of a Franchise Leader Page, as well as more pages like that. Most AS games, 3 HR games, etc.

Also I would love to see Postseason Series MVP as well as WS Series MVP, as well as Reliever of the year and AS Game MVP.

I really would like to see a "skip pick" put into the amateur draft. This would especially help online leagues. If an owner doesn't submit a list, they get no pick. Period.

I would like to see coaches who can develop Defense. I would like my AA manager to be a defensive genius. So I can send the low range people to him.

I would like to see a player be able to make the AS game even though he is injured and be replaced. Just to give them the AL or NL next to their stats for that year.

Different league payrolls.

My Iowa baseball league should not be able to afford to shell out 10 million dollars to any player. My preferred contracts for a league like this would be in the 1,000-50,000 range.

Greetings,

If I may, allow me to add my vote to a baseball-reference style history system (which is basically what mtw has requested). Honestly, with each passing year OOTP gets closer to this. The Almanac was a HUGE step in the right direction. All I ask is not to stop now. Keep adding.

At the least, add most of the baseball-reference career leader categories that are missing. For instance, it is criminal that on base percentage and slugging percentage are not included. The same goes for numerous pitching categories. Basically, most of the categories that are available in the league leader lists (for a single season) should be available for career league leaders.

The same goes for single season records. Expand the list to include more than simply the top player (make them the same length as the career categories) and add the same categories that are missing for career (obp, slg, etc.).

I think that is close to it. I also would like to see some career comparison tools like black ink, gray ink, and win shares. That really is it. Those are the things that I use most often when I go to the work to run Cato's utility. Cato deserves all the credit in the world, but OOTP should really do these things itself. If High Heat can do a lot of this stuff, then there is no excuse for OOTP.

Thanks for the consideration.

MTG

P.S. As a historical simmer, I also vote for 19th century support!

I would like the "select ballpark" screen to be a simple scrollbar-navigaged list, instead of the rows of buttons that exist now. It's a pain if you have more than 50 parks...the extra parks get dumped off to the right, and it's difficult to read the names of them. And who knows what happens once you top 75 parks...

Please change it so users in an on-line league cannot change their stadium in the Team Setup menu, and have this change exported then imported into the league file.

I'm not sure if this has been suggested yet, so I'll throw out the idea anyway... Nowadays clubs have to give up millions of dollars to get their first round pick to sign with them. So.. the ability to sign draft picks.

better AI for youngsters in Initial Draft

The initial draft AI is a major problem in this game...

If you draft your players yourself, you will wind up with the best farm system in the game. The intial draft AI does not value young players enough and always winds up drafting old dudes like Wells, Maddux, Randy Johnson and Bonds very early even though they will be gone in two years. The initial draft MUST be more biased towards youngsters in order to make this game at all challenging. Guys like Teixeira should not be drafted in the sixth round.
