2025: Report #1
The 2025 Major League baseball season has kicked off and the first no hitter of the year has been thrown and there was a milestone homer
Rogers Hornsby hit his 300th career home today despite the Detroit Tigers dropping a 2nd straight game to the Maine Attack. Maine beats Detroit 9-7 to take some air out of the sails as Hornsby smacked the milestone homer off of Jesse Jefferson. Freddie Lindstrom hit a 3 run homer while Adam Lind had 3 hits as Storm Davis was knocked out of the box in the 3rd inning. Hornsby said after the game "Glad to get that 300 out of the way now, but we are in hangover mode after being swept in the World Series last year, we can't get swept by Maine for sure" The first no-hitter of the season was fired by Orval Overall as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cozumel Scouts 3-0 Overall walked 2 batters and fanned 13 hitters. Cubs office was propelled by 2 hits games from Bris Lord and Billy Sullivan. This was the 2nd no hitter in Cubs history as Charlie Buffinton pitched a perfect game in 2023 against the Savannah Thunder. It is the first time that Cozumel has ever been no hit. |

2025 - Report #3
Today the Memphis Cougars destroyed the Oklahoma City Colts in an NL Midwest division matchup that saw Memphis superstar Bryce Harper hit for the cycle Harper drove in 5 runs while Don Robinson pitched 6 strong innings to get the victory. Brian Roberts and Juan Gonzalez added 2 hits each. Harper ever cocky said this after the game "It just seemed that Oklahoma City pitchers were going into my wheelhouse every pitch it was like being Charlie Sheen in Vegas, where I am from"
The other interesting news is that 38 year old Gary Gaetti has launch 5 homers in the first 4 games this year for the Cleveland Indians. Gaetti was seemingly done at the end of last year but Cleveland had faith in him and he has been going crazy with 5 homers in 13 at bats. |

Portland also got offense from Francisco Lindor who collected 4 hits. Twins got 3 hits from superstar Cody Bellinger. Minnesota is still in first in the AL Central with an 8-2 mark on the year. Vinegar Bend Mizell is a big loss for the defending champion Cincinnati Reds as his lost for the season with stretched elbow ligaments. He suffered the injuries in a 13-3 beating by the Honolulu Riptides of the Reds. Mizell has become a solid late innings reliever after a career as a starter 144 teams in the league and only one has made it to 10-0 and it is the Tijuana Pelicans of all teams, as they a winning without a real big name roster. Lastly, just noticed but 1 in 144 chance... David Bell left the world Champion Cincinnati Reds for the Sioux Falls Velocity and it turns out that David Bell has been on Sioux Falls as a player. |

2025 - Report #11
The San Antonio River Kings are a hitting juggernaut and they flexed their might in a 33-3 thrashing of the lowly and inaugural Shreveport Sting. In the game, Adam LaRoche and Jose Peraza got 6 hits each. LaRoche who was really ticked off he did not win the MVP in 2024 as he lost to Zack Wheat is making a statement in 2025 with 30 RBI's already in 15 games. He said this in the offseason "Just because Wheat won the batting title and played for a team that made the playoffs, does not mean he is the MVP, I hit 80 damn homers"
Also in that destruction game Jerry Willard had 5 RBI's and 4 hits and Pedro Garcia had 5 this. Toronto Blue Jays shutout the Spokane Gangsters as Christy Mathewson struck out 16 batters in 6 2/3 innings, meaning that 16 of his 20 outs were strikeouts. Jays won the game 3-0 as Ronald Guzman hit a homer and drove in runs. |

In 2023 Klein hit 78 homers and 197 RBI's and is one of the best players historically in the league. Bob Feller pitched a game for the Chicago Cubs by striking out 16 batters as Chicago triumphed over the Oklahoma City Colts 11-1. Feller pitched 7 innings to get the 16 K's and allowed 2 hits one of which was a Franmil Reyes homer. Feller is now 2-0 on the season. Bris Lord drove in 4 runs and Joe Panik had 3 hits for the victorious Cubs who are in first place in the NL Central with a one game lead over the Albuquerque Blackbirds. In a game of baseball teams in obscure markets, Gene Alley collected 6 hits to lead the Fargo Horsemen to an 11-9 win in 12 innings over the Grand Junction Gold Rush Alley had 6 hits and 4 RBI's while Pepe Mangual drove in 3 runs for Fargo who have steadily climbed to 7-9 on the year. Harry Wolter drove in 5 runs and Dick Egan drove in another 3 to lead the Redbirds on the rampage and a 10-6 record. This Grand Rapids team is now 9-7 so they are not the usual variety. |

The players of the week were announced today and there were 2 big injuries
Superstar Adam LaRoche wins the AL player of the week award for the San Antonio River Kings by socking 8 homers, driving in 24 runs and batting 15 for 28, that is career for most. San Antonio is off to a solid 13-5 start but they trail 2 juggernauts in the AL West in Utah Stains at 17-1 and Calgary Fusion at 15-3. National League honors to go the ad man Chandler Bing who batted an incredible .680 this week with 5 RBI's for the San Bernardino Butchers. Bing's average is near .500 at .493 which leads the National League. San Bernardino is 9-9 in the middle of the pack in the AL Pacific. The Vancouver Men-O-War were dealt a big blow as they found out Blake Treinen will be out for the season . Treinen was being used as a setup man this year after coming over the Miami Marlins where he closed games in 2024. He tore his ulnar collateral ligament in a game where Vancouver beat the Aruba Jackrabbits 10-6. Also going down for 6 months was political fixer and Fargo Horsemen starting pitcher, Frank Underwood with shoulder inflammation. Underwood suffered the injury in a wild 10-9 loss to the Grand Junction Gold Rush. A game where Fargo blew a 9-4 lead in the 9th inning. Underwood was his usual cantankerous self as he lamented "it serves me right that i would have my shoulder blow up, just having to show up in Grand Junction got me injured" |

Johnny Vandermeer was in top form today fanning 15 batters as the Louisville Bats defeated the Savannah Thunder 7-1. Vandermeer got the 15's over 7 innings and allowed just 1 ER and 3 hits over 7 innings The Louisville offense came from Clint Barmes who hit 2 homers and drove in 5 runs. Only mistake by Vandermeer was allowing a homer to Tommy McCraw. Louisville is now 10-12 but not off to the good start they had thought.
News out of New Zealand today was that catcher Demar Derozan will retire at the end of the year for the Auckland Seadogs. DeRozan cited the horrible schedule playing in the South Pacific "Man it just ain't logical playing and traveling, there ain't no teams in the American League near us so we travel too much, I will go back to the Spurs when I get a moment" |
