Astros prevail take out the White Sox win Wild Card
The Houston Astros were in cruise control in game #164 with a big 6-3 win over the White Sox in Chicago as Dave Ferriss dominated for his 23rd win and Zack Wheat took the batting crown and triple crown away from Rogers Hornsby with 4 big hits finishing the season at .395. Ezra Sutton contributed 2 RBI's and the Astros will head to Oakland for the AL Wild Card matchup. Astros will pitch Hal Schumacher against the A's Steve Busby
NL Wild Card will see the Cincinnati Reds host the Colorado Rockies with a great pitching matchup of rookie Roy Oswalt for the Reds and dominating force Noodles Hahn for the Rockies. |

NL Wild Card Game
The Colorado Rockies defeated the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 in 12 innings on the road to advance to the NLDS and face the San Diego Padres. The other matchup will have the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Miami Marlins
Noodles Hahn dominated and set a new record for strikeouts in an NL Playoff game with 14 and he fanned batting champion and 2019 MVP George Davis 5 times. Dewey Robinson got the win with Allie Reynolds getting the save for Colorado while deadline acquisition Dave Giusti gave up the sacrifice fly in the 12th inning to Buck Crouse which gave the Rockies the victory Richard Hidalgo hit a 2 run homer earlier in the game to account for the rest of the Colorado offense. Gerardo Parra had 3 hits for the Reds while Pete Donohue battled hard against Hahn. The Reds will not be to repeat to defend their 2020 NL Crown. |

AL Wild Card Game
The Houston Astros triumphed over the Oakland Athletics with a 5-3 win on the road as they got solid starting pitching from game MVP Mat Latos. Astros now advance to play the defending world champion Seattle Mariners while the Baltimore Orioles will play the Cleveland Indians.
Houston got 2 hits each from Bill Hall and Lorenzo Cain and held up for the 5-3 win with excellent relief from Frank Sullivan and closer Jeremy Affeldt. Oakland goes home but had homers from George Foster and Les Bell. At the end of the day Steve Busby did not have good stuff and their season is now over. |

2021 - League Championship Series
The 2021 LCS are in the books and the defending World Champion Seattle Mariners win the AL for the 2nd year in a row in a 30 team American League which is not easy, they will play the Miami Marlins who have been hot going 7-0 in the postseason and blitzing the Pittsburgh Pirates and the always choking San Diego Padres.
Results Miami Marlins 4 San Diego Padres 0 Series MVP - Arky Vaughan - 2 HR 5 RBI's .412 Seattle Mariners 4 Cleveland Indians 1 Series MVP - Larry Gardner - 3 RBI's .304 The Indians did lose one of their star pitchers in Kelvim Escobar for 11 months with a torn ulnar collar ligament, this is a big blow for 2022 and it was deflating. Cleveland had the 1-0 series lead when Escobar went down in game #2, which forced the Tribe to overuse their bullpen and throw their pitching rotation into a loop. |

2022 League Expansion
The 12 teams are in for the 2022 season and maybe last wave of expansion as the league is at 72 teams.
AL East Foxwoods Colonials - owned by the Reservation. There will be betting in the ball park, they play their games in new Eastern Connecticut stadium. Delaware Big Train - President Joe Biden rallied to get Dupont to buy a team and they did. They will play their games in Wilmington. AL Central Nashville Judges - Blake Shelton got some financing and owns this team and had to fight to get a second team in Tennessee Guadalajara Bighorns - No one knows who owns this team but now there are 2 teams in Mexico AL West Calgary Fusion - Wrestler Brett Hart owns the team it was a cheap purchase Spokane Gangsters - A team that is owned by John Stockton at 30% and other local businesses NL East Montreal Anchors - Team is owned by Molson Brewing company, baseball gleefully returns to this city Orlando Alliance - Disney corporation owns this team, giving the league 4 Florida based teams NL Central Wichita Hawkeyes - Andy Cohen of Bravo wanted to add a 2nd team in St Louis instead he had to settle for this city. Little Rock Sunbirds - Bill Clinton owns 35% of the team and got a lot of investors and put differences aside with Mike Huckabee as they both have shares in the team. NL West Austin Donkeys - Dell Computer owns the team. It is the only Texas team in the National League the other 3 are in the AL West Vancouver Men-O-War - Team owned by Starbucks as they failed to buy the Mariners they go north to get a team. |

Offseason Transactions #1
Some trades have been made and signing in advance of the amateur draft and expansion draft
1. Newark Thieves trade Rollie Fingers to Cleveland Indians for Micah Johnson. (Indians still trying to perfect the bullpen to get to World Series) 2. Anchorage Bears trade Jean Machi to Cincinnati Reds for Junior Ortiz and 2 other minor leaguers. (Cincy is also trying to perfect their pen early, Machi has been solid for Anchorage the past 2 years) 3. Utah Saints trade Roger Mason and Wes Gardner to Oakland Athletics for Heine Reitz (Oakland GM proposed the deal, Utah had best pen in the league last year and needed a 2nd baseman. They will move the other "Heine" Mueller to the OF 4. Riverhead Racers trade Helespontico Espargoza to Seattle Mariners for Charlie Corin 5. Portland Lions trade Jim Davis and Charlie Moore to Chicago White Sox for Jakcie May and Dick Rozek. (Chisox add a solid catcher and Portland's top pitcher for small ask) 6. Charlotte Spiders trade Mike Stanton (lefty that played for Mets/Yanks) to Buffalo Bisons for Wilson Delgado 7. Charlotte Spiders trade Andy Pafko to Riverhead Racers for Marty Martinez and Reid Nichols. (Riverhead is making their run in the NL East and Pafko returns to division where he played for Philly) 8. Portland Lions trade Fred Merkle to Detroit Tigers for Ron Reed and Gary Serum. (Now Portland dumps huge power bat for some fill in pitchers) 9. Utah Saints sign SP/Al Downing for 6 years at 10M per year, previously with Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies (Utah lagged from the elite in AL West due to lack of starting pitching depth) 10. Colorado Rockies trade Wally Gilbert to San Juan Storm for Tim Lincecum and Del Crandall (Rockies looking for pieces to surge past San Diego in the NL West) 11. Caracas Toros trade Andrew Chaffin and Conor Gillaspie to Sacramento Bees for Chick Fulmer. (Another case where a competing team like Sacramento is garnering pieces from a rebuild) |
