I don't recall such a big relegation battle. 11 teams within just a few wins of each other.

After Zorro or Orcin pointed out the old ballpark, we finally fixed it. Thank you. Definitely one of the better starts in a while. But Angry Dragons, Gryphons, and Zorro on the upcoming schedule. Come on Cy Blanton....continue the hot start!!! Last edited by joehart; 02-27-2019 at 11:13 PM. |

Yeah, he gets my vote. I don't know what else he can do unless he drives the bus.

The crazy person to pull the trigger was me. I made a generous 40K profit from my 96 Kershaw sale so going above the selling prize was ok to just get him and insert him. I had the 97 a while back but prefer the 96 for the more even offense against LHP and RHPs. I laughed when I saw your comment and don't feel bad that the extra profit went to you...you deserve it for all the effort you have been putting into the league. The 96 Willie Mays trains to a nice ~108LF and ~103RF so I wanted to start that process right away. So far in 17 games: .319 AVG, .390 OPS, with 5 doubles and 2 HR. Hopefully down the road, he can be a nice mix and match for my poor defensive outfielders while also playing a generous amount of days. I guess we won't really see how this plays out for another season. I have always been wanting to rid my roster of all the 100s so it is done. No more Trout and Betts. Interesting. Can definitely say that my Sale (Daytona) never saw the light of day on the active roster. Put Faber in for him Monday at 525am EST ish, but haven’t put him back on the active roster since.
Glad to see we have a league leader in something other than Team Losses. |

As I sit here my wife is composing this because I cannot write. I want to thank everyone for the kind words for me to get better. It really cheered me up. You all have become a big part of my life and I thank you for this. What happen is I had a procedure for my back. It was a complete success and my friend who owns a bar closed it for that afternoon and had friends come to celebrate. Well I was still under the influence of the medicine they numbed me with and after doing a few shots and a couple of Vodka tonics I got Dizzy and fell with no control at all of my body. “Down goes Frazier” or in this case down went Zorro. Thank God I broke nothing but as of today I still cannot write or stand correctly or watch all my games. (Which kills me because I want complete control.) I just wanted to share this with you because you have all become family with me. Like my wife always tells me, I am so blessed with good friends and now I consider our group also a big part of my life. I will be a little saddened when 20 comes out (Allthough Friends And wife have donated some nice bucks to get a good start in 20. Pedro money.lol.) But we have something special here that now we know how to do it we could have kept it up forever. 20 Will be easier for me to win (Thats for sure) but I will always remember the struggles I had winning here. I thought I was pretty good until I joined this group . I am better now because of all I have learned from you guys in the last few seasons. I never had a problem in the reg Whale leagues because there were only a couple teams I had to adjust to. In this league EVERY series I have to adjust to. Again thank you my friends for your concern. This is a wonderful set of people and I am so proud you have aloud me to be a part of it. My wife says she has almost had enough of this writing so off I go to try and figure out how to beat you all. She has to also set things up as I tell her and she does not like sports at all so I am lucky she is a good friend and wife to do this.😁

Also I want to give a BIG thank you to Joe Hart. Not only has he given me some vital information. (He knows what I am talking about.) But one of the big things he taught me was the pitching pull control. I had it set way down but it was really not enough and I would have never thought to turn it off completely. I use to (Every once in a while) give up 7,8, or even 9 runs in a inning which would make me so angry (Not to mention cost me the game) and it would sometimes come at the worst time. Late in the game while I was winning. Since he taught me that the setting was really kind of broke or useless if on at all I have not once this season (That I have seen) had this happen. So thank you Joe. I am not very bright but I am a learner.(Or user of others info or great minds) Thanks to Joe Hart, NYY23, And Medici to name a few I have learned things I would have never been smart enough to learn on my own. Thank you all for this. It has made this game very enjoyable for me. Now my wife has said “Enough”. After all I took a pain pill (Happy pill) and she is just sitting here writing and looking very pretty but has had enough of this. Thanks for listening. 😁

Hang in there Zorro! We all wish you a speedy recovery. Your team has become well known in the PT universe just as much as your personal interactions on the boards (and epic manager-player rants ;-) You've made this game a lot more fun for a ton of people, myself included. Rest up and enjoy the happy pills. We'll all be here pulling for you!

Yeesh. How many teams get relegated? Never been anywhere close before, so have no idea how it works. Really terrible season.

I have tried to put a better defense on the field, but it seems to make no difference. I am still ranked 14th in defensive efficiency. My best defensive shortstop has 11 errors in 35 games. The only thing that I accomplished by emphasizing defense was to make my offense worse. This game is hard to understand sometimes.
I have decided to go back to playing PT the same way that I play regular OOTP. I am done trying to figure out game-by-game strategies and mix-and-match lineups. You guys are all way better at that than I am. My best approach is, and has always been, to put the best balanced team on the field that I can and manage by the month as opposed to the day. |

Yeah I really and struggling understanding this, as well. Is it my pitching staff? I look at my defense v.s. other teams, and it seems like it should stack up really well --- but it doesn't.

Example: Simmons may have a higher SS defensive rating (103) than Ozzie Smith (93) at SS but I often see him with 15+ errors/season. In comparison, Ozzie is closer to just 8 errors/season. Ozzie error rating is almost 20 points higher (93 vs. 73). So to get the fewest errors, it is best to just look at the error rating and not focus on the highest possible positional rating. Positional rating seems to have the highest correlation with Zone rating results (Simmons has 12+ /season vs. 5+ for Ozzie Smith) and efficiency. |
