The Cardinals remain on the road after taking three of four in San Diego, heading back east and somewhat north for a two-game set against the Twins in Minnesota. The teams recently split a pair of games in St. Louis

W: Santana 3-3, 4.47. L: Martinez 5-3, 4.40. Sv: Hildenberger 5, 1.26. HR: Molina 3. Dozier 4, Rosario 8.
Player of the game: The Twins' Brian Dozier was 3 for 3 with a homer, a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Note: Cardinals infielder Greg Garcia left the game with shoulder tendonitis. He is likely headed to the disabled list.

Cards news: Garcia goes on DL; Erdman is called up

The Cardinals have placed infielder Greg Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with shoulder tendonitis. He is expected to miss two weeks.
Shortstop Tommy Edman has been called up from AAA Memphis.

Player of the game: Twins starting pitcher Lance Lynn pretty much shut down his former team allowing one run on four hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out six and walked one.

Following two straight losses in Minnesota, to cap a 3-3 road trip, the Cardinals return to Busch Stadium for a seven-game home stand opening with four games against the Philadelphia Phillies. It will be followed by three games of interleague play against the Kansas City Royals.

W: Gregerson 4-2, 3.05. L: Morgan 0-1, 4.60. HR: Hoskins 9, Fowler 9, Gyorko 8.
Player of the game: The Phillies' Rhys Hoskins was 2 for 5 with a double, a home run and six RBIs.
Notes: The Cardinals' Jed Gyorko was 1 for 3 with a homer, two runs scored and three RBIs. Seth Smith was 4 for 6 with a a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Tommy Edmann was 4 for 4 with a run scored.
* Tied 4-4, both teams scored four times in the ninth inning to force extra innings. Hoskins drove in all four Philadelphia runs with a grand slam off Greg Holland. Seth Smith had a two-run double off Pat Neshek in the bottom of the ninth for St. Louis. A Yadier Molina sacrifice fly off Neshek plated Edmann with the tying run.
* In the 10th, Kolten Wong drew a lead-off walk from Neshek. A one-out walk to Edmann moved him to second. A two-out single from Smith scored Wong with the winning run.

Player of the game: Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola went seven shutout innings allowing two hits. He struck out one and walked two.
Notes: Down 5-0, the Cardinals rallied with two runs in the eighth -- courtesy of a Kolten Wong two-run home run off Nick Pivetta - and four in the ninth.
Sean Smith drove in the first run in the ninth with a single. Yadier Molina followed with a two-run, two-out single off reliever Hector Neris. Tommy Erdman won it with a single off Neris.
