Gapper and a tie game. This season will get increasingly unwatchable if they can't shake this bullpen up.

One out - on a tattooed line drive to left.

Walk off HR. Unbelievable.

Stop hiring other people's washed up closers.

ERA at 8.49 now. Let Justin Wilson close. It can't be any worse.

Or just use whoever is pitching best to close the game out, even if that pitcher started in the 8th. or 7th.

Wow, last night I fell asleep with them up, only to wake up to a loss. Today, I get to see the whole game up to the A's tying it up in the 9th. Then my wife calls and says she's ready to be picked up at work. I leave thinking extra innings, only to get home and find out Rodriguez gave up a bomb. So sad. Can't hurt to try Wilson, but what do you do with Frankie? Right now there aren't enough meaningless innings to spread between him and Sanchez....oh and Zimmermann isn't too far from joining those two in needing useless use.

Yikes. 4 BS, 4 losses 20-something baserunners and four dingers in a little over 11 innings of work.

Dog track time for K-Rod

They should have had me, anyone in this forum or anyone at all for that matter as a paid consultant this offseason. They missed the handwriting on the wall that literally everyone but Tiger management saw.

The comedy of my Facebook page often brings me here for sanity. Evidently closers are easy to come by and the Tigers through the years have been turning great ones away in droves, while selecting the most obviously bad ones possible. Plus, if you want Kelvin Herrera, all you have to do is call the Royals and say so and he will magically appear as a Tiger. If you do have to trade someone for Herrera it's obvious to everyone but me that the Royals would probably take Kyle Ryan and Buck Farmer in return. Brad Ausmus is an idiot and he and he alone decided that Rodriguez should be a Tiger. It goes on and on and on.

The problem to me is that they continually rely on over-priced near-washed up relievers. The price tag certainly must have something to do with the reluctance to change course when it is obviously not working.

I really don't know why more teams don't use a leverage model or at least close by committee with whoever is working at the moment bobbing to the top. Paying a closer for their glory days doesn't seem to work so well.

I think the Tigers biggest problem is they don't develop talent. They haven't for years. DD was great, but developing talent wasn't high on his list. A lot of that could have been Mr. I driven, but let's face it, developing talent doesn't get one the headlines that acquiring a Prince Fielder or David Price does. I think it's a huge problem at every position, but it's huge when it comes to pitching. Scary thing is, the only two home grown guys in the bullpen stunk at a historic level to start this season and both are now in Toledo, Kyle Ryan and Bruce Rondon.

I really don't have a problem with kicking the tires on old closers. But if the tires prove to be flat and they can't get you anywhere ... how long do you keep trying to ride them?

I'm sorry but if your going to lose, lose with your guns blazing! Play your best players and let the chips fall where they may. This "loyalty" crap has been driving me crazy since Leyland was the manager.

So, I'm guessing you're not interested in bringing Don Kelly back as a closer

Never thought I would be saying this, but Andrew Romine is really pulling his weight so far this season. He's in the mix in every game he plays in. Love it.

I live in Cleveland, where he is revered. When the Tribe is at home, you can save electricity and just open a window to listen to the game. Guy screams during spring-training games. If you grew up listening to Ernie Harwell, he's pretty annoying.

Aargh. Hit "quote" instead of "edit."
