That would never happen! *hides his virtual pitchfork*

All that aside, this team has always added something special each year, while I am not an FM'r, I can say that the last 4 versions are killer above and beyond 12.

Lots of players, including me, import their fictional and historical games from version to version. I've seen posts about guys that are somewhere in the 2100s on their games that either started fictional or historical.

But every time I get a new version I start up a standard MLB league just to check out the features as someone posted above.

There is a setting to turn that on or off. Every now and then, maybe during updated, mine has turned off and I had to turn it back on. Don't have game in front of my now but look around and you should find it. And yeah I'm on win10 so that shouldn't be the problem.

Hope that helps.

I'd be interested in the split of the player base between those that find the Wolf's countless victory laps extremely tiring and those that can still master a faint grin. Any data on that?

This is kind of surprising to me. Although I knew modern day MLB has the most appeal to the casual user, I still thought the number wouldn't be THAT high.

Take this poll for instance: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...game-mode.html

We learned here that fictional mode seemed to be the favorite for users on this forum, with standard MLB coming in 2nd. I know this poll wasn't the "be all end all" as it only polled 250 forum members, but I still think it gave us a general idea of what forum members play.

I think what we're seeing is that modern MLB brings in the most revenue for OOTP as that is what appeals the most to the casual gamer and baseball fan. This isn't to say that the more hardcore guys don't also play MLB, but I think the reason that it is so high is that for the majority of the players who are new to OOTP, the reason they are purchasing the game is so they can GM their favorite MLB team.

Fictional, and historical for that matter, are probably more popular with the more hardcore OOTP players and the players who have been with OOTP developments for the long haul. A good chunk of the forum folk fall under this category.

So, my question to you guys is..Do these results surprise you? What mode(s) do YOU personally plan on playing with OOTP 17?

I hope Markus and co will keep finding ways to appeal to all OOTP players and continue giving love to all the different game modes.

What you say, OOTP buds?
I am not sure what I would be called. I created one game where I was the Yankees GM and made all of the trades that I thought the Yankees should be making.

In another game, I started with the Los Angeles Dodgers and traded away all of its major league players except for Joc Pederson to create an all-Jewish MLB team. I have been guest-blogging about this at

Guest column ? CHOSENBALL: How the Jews can Save Baseball and Baseball Can Save the Jews » Kaplan?s Korner on Jews and Sports

I guess that either of these could be considered fictional, but the latter moreso.

I usually comb the settings and know them back to front from all the times I've set up games, but I can't recall seeing that one anywhere. Oh well, no biggie. If you find it, of course let me know, but it's definitely not a game breaker.

It is on the start (splash) screen under settings. The same place that you set screen resolution and windowed or full screen. It's the 8th item down.

File --> Settings --> Interface (Player Popup Delay)

You can change how long you have to hover before the popup shows or even turn it off.

Got 'em back thanks to Sweed, DCG12, and byzeil. Possibly the un-license/re-license was enough to take out my previous setting, but all is well now.

Windows broke a lot of things and every patch that fixes 1 breaks at least 2 more. It is a nightmare @ work for the Help desk, 25%+ more PC software related issues on Windows 10 than we had at any time on 7, and volume almost doubles the 2-3 days after patches

Man, I loved XP.

Usage shows that 65% of OOTP players did.

I prefer historical but I don't play it much because the minor league system was so bad it ruined the game. But now that the minor league system may be experiencing a huge upgrade it might be viable to finally play historical career games with the same level of depth as the modern game rosters!

I know personally I'm more a fictional fan. In part because I found a really fun mod for fictional play and it just engrossed all my attention. While I do have a modern day game as well, the fictional mode will be easier to transfer and continue going with in the next game, as opposed to starting over again like modern day (to take advantage of the present day rosters).

I must be the 1% because I play all of the above.

I have long running leagues in all 3 categories and over time even modern and historical turn into fictional.

Simming sports and especially baseball is something I started in the 70s as a kid (APBA and Strat) and something I imagine I will do my whole life. OOTP is my beyond my wildest imagination as a kid. My time to play fluctuates with real life, but the game keeps getting better and better and I never grow tired of getting lost in it.
