One of the things I began doing as far back as OOTP5 was create a fictional league and change all of the players' names to those of guys I went to school with. I would just open my high school yearbook, call up a list of all players and rename them, one by one.

Each time a rookie class was generated I would rename those guys, too, getting the names from graduating classes before or behind mine.

It's fun to see how their careers turn out. Who becomes a star, eventually reaches the Hall of Fame, who winds up stuck in the minors, etc.

Another fictional league I have going in my OOTP12 game is called the United Baseball League. It consists of a select group of Negro League and MLB teams. All of the teams are integrated, but all of the players are fictional. The start date is 1950. The back story is that some kind of US economic catastrophe led to MLB's decision to contract and join with a group of Negro League teams to form a new league. So you get to watch classic matchups between, for example, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Kansas City Monarchs.

Yeah, that's some really good stuff that you did there.

For those of you who weren't here then, I had done some fundamental research in market sizes and team movement, and he took it and used it like a stepladder to reach some amazing heights with his own work. I was and remain quite pleased and appreciative.

It's seriously worth looking at if you have any interest in this topic. My stuff actually is too, although not so much, and there's a link to it in his thread.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I actually have my own sort-of version of a World Baseball league that I'm a month into. It has 50 teams, 2 subleagues, 5 divisions in each league of 5 teams, The subleagues are based on the hemisphere, like jays's is, with divisions based on their geographic location (division names: Far North, Middle North, Equatorial, Middle South, Far South), which led to me finding some places in the world I've never made before! If anybody wants to see the teams I have (maybe some inspiration for jays'?), I can make another post in this thread. I'm too tired to list them all now.

Thanks, and you are totally correct, I couldn't have done what I did without the base work you did at the start!

I wrote a new post for 15 detailing the process step by step, but I didn't bump it and who knows where it is now.

It's up to you, I know I did a 48-team league last year and I'm in no hurry to do that again. That league quickstart is actually still on my Mediafire, but its for 14. Might be worth an import if anyone wants me to post the link to it.

Smart how you did the divisions, do you do a bye for 1st round or a wildcard system to get an even amount of playoff series?

What I did on mine was just did 48 continentals in 2 subleagues of 4 divs of 6 with two advanced feeders acting as academies in Alaska and Hawaii.

This is similar to the Global Baseball League I have going in OOTP10, except that I have far fewer teams. The teams are for cities [Berlin, Moscow, Acapulco, Manila, etc], but I use the national flag jerseys and caps created by...I'm very sorry, I forgot his name. But I'm sure they are in the Mods section, and they are very, very good.

I really like this idea. Unfortunately the AI would probably blow up.

I would like to create one like this later on. Thanks

The fellow who created the great national flag jerseys and national crest logos that I use for the Global League I started a few years back was Tombair. His work was on Photobucket, and possibly also on Padresfan's site. Does Padresfan still host OOTP mods?

Anyway, Tombair's jerseys can really bring your fictional worldwide league to life if you feel like creating one.

I decided to do something a bit different in terms of fictional leagues, and to take advantage of OOTP 15's indie and international league settings. I made an entirely fictional universe based on a fictional British commonwealth country in the North Pacific. I figured since most fictional countries in OOTP are based off the US, I'd make mine a cross between Australia, Canada and South Africa. I then made the surrounding areas (west coast Canada, Oz, NZ, Hawaii) the secondary baseball powerhouses with their own gradually added INT leagues. The BC league and Oz/NZ leagues are roughly AA/AAA, whereas the Hawaiian league is newer and is de-facto an "old timers" league full of washed up vets (it lacks nationality limits).

I added an Indie league for good measure, set to a higher prestige than the INT leagues (since unlike with the INT leagues, teams can buy players off of it for cheap, this ensures that good players are easier for ML teams to acquire). I set the age limit to between 24 and 32, to leave enough young players to fill the rookie league and to keep the has-been vets out.

Also, all of the ML teams are named after birds. Why? Because. Since I'm a huge geektastic loser with to much time on my hands, I also made a map.

This is awesome... you should release it as a quickstart, I guarantee some people would love to play this!

I'm still ironing out some financial settings (I find with fictional leagues of any size, it takes a long time to get everything working properly) but maybe when I'm finished another few seasons I'll release it.

I created a fully in-state world that incorporated a ML league, high schools, colleges, and 4 indi leagues. All of the leagues are fairly small in size ranging from 16 (ML) to 8 teams. The "world" easily expands and contracts and the leagues are all meant to serve a purpose within the "world". Every league has completely custom financials. All of the leagues play 80 games except the feeders.

The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't have drafts for my indi leagues because setting up associations screw up some of the league rules and I don't want the indi leagues drafting at the same time as the ML league.

The leagues are like this

ML league 16 teams from all over the state pay range 10,000 - 100,000
top indi league (rep 8) pay from 5,000 - 40,000
2nd and 3rd indi (rep 6) age restriction (18-25 and 32+) 2,000 - 20,000
4th indi league (rep 0) basically a beer league pay from 50 - 250 (I use this league to pull junk players out of FA although it is actually a really fun league to GM in)

The gap between the two age restricted league and my two lowest leagues is there to add more leagues as I feel like it.

Anyone ever do a quickstart for a DC comics universe baseball league? Gotham Knights, Metropolis Metros, Star(ling) City Arrows?

For my league the international teams' drafts seem glitched up, I'll need to fix it before releasing. Bear with me.

I think there's a lot of good work here. I create this thread for all of us to post your fictional quickstarts.
