Eddie Plank kept the Phillies to only one run over seven innings but then he left for a pinch hitter and Philadelphia feasted on Otto Hess. Luckily the Superba batters had created a big enough cushion to hop don to a 9-5 win.

That is 8 straight for Brooklyn.

WP - Eddie Plank (11-5)

With Brooklyn's great run, they have moved into 3rd in the NL.

PIRATES - 43-23 / - / 4-6 / W1 / 75
REDS - 40-23 / 1.5 / 9-1 / L1
SUPERBAS - 37-30 / 6.5 / 9-1 / W8

The biggest challenge of the run starts now as the Superbas head to Exposition Park in Pittsburgh.

The first game of a fourth of July double-header and Brooklyn supplied the fireworks, hitting three big home runs (by Sam Crawford, Pat Moran and Joe Kelley), but the Pirates kept hitting too and finally got them with a walk-off single by Ginger Beaumont in the 10th for an 8-7 Pittsburgh win.

WP - Sam Leever (11-5)
LP - Rube Vickers (1-1)

Record - 37-32
