November 8- Haymakers have signed FA Star CF Ramon 'Hornet' Javier to a 3yr deal. 28- The Westerns win the sweepstakes for FA C Jerry Dorgan, signing the 26yo to a 7 year deal. December 9- Philadelphia Athletics owner Huey Fox passes away, son Huey Jr takes over. 20- The Elm Citys have traded 27yo CL Keith Saunders to the Canaries for 24yo SP Howard Miles. 27- The Cincinnati Red Stockings have signed star 3b FA Tom Burns to a 3yr deal. This marks the end of the 1883 Baseball year and the end of a three league system. A lot will happen next season. AA - St Louis will change name to the Browns. The Washington Nationals and Brooklyn Atlantics will be moving from the NA to the AA and The Toledo Blue Stockings, Indianapolis Hoosiers and Richmond Virginians will be joining the league. NL - no changes Union Association will be added with 2 divisions with 6 teams each: Eastern League Baltimore Monumentals Boston Reds Washington Generals (RL Washington Nationals) Philadelphia Keystones Altoona Mountain City Wilmington Quicksteps St. Louis Maroons Cincinnati Outlaw Reds Chicago Lakers (RL Chicago/Pittsburgh) Kansas City Cowboys Milwaukee Brewers St. Paul White Caps The first time I ran this for myself, I did the UA as a 12 team, 1 division league for one season, then changed it but this time, going straight to the normal league set up. The league lasted one year so it will be set up in divisions and with evolution from the start. The Chicago/Pittsburgh team was a joint effort but since i am the 'Overlord' of this world, they are gonna be starting as the Chicago Lakers instead. Likewise with the UA Washington Nationals will be the Generals instead, no sense the confusion for anyone, me included. The 1884 year will be a very interesting one. More from this league sometime tomorrow or friday.

NL NA AA UA Eric Sutton got drafted in #1 overall by the Monumentals but is only the second best rated prospect, but best Pitcher on the list. Should be an interesting season for me, lol.

All the other teams are under .500 and need to kick it in gear to get headed back in the right direction. In the NA, The Washington Olympics are out quick in League 1, slightly ahead of the Red Rocks in Rockford. Troy, Philadelphia and Middletown are all in the hunt as well. In League 2, New Haven is out frount, with Washington Blue Legs, Philadelphia Centenniels all in the above .500 group but it is a close race for all teams, none more the 5 and a half out. In the AA the Washington Nationals are the April leaders with Louisville, St. Louis Browns, Columbus, Philly Athletics, Pittsburgh, Brooklyn Atlantics and Indianapolis all above .500 and ni the hunt. In the UA, the Eastern League is led by the very fast out of the gates Washington Genreals with a 10-2 record. The Wilimington Quicksteps and Philadelphia Keystones are all close. In the Western League, THe St. Louis Maroons and the Outlaw Reds are the early leaders but St. Paul and Milwaukee are right there. The big story is the lowly Kansas City Cowboys, who have only managed one win in the first twelve gaems. THey really have to get it going or it will be a wasted season for them.

He faced 31 batters, walking 6 but piling up 13 Ks. 19 Troy Haymakers RHP Marvin Lambert will miss 4-5 months - torn labrum. 19 Brooklyn Eckfords RHP Alex Page will miss 11 months - ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. 20 Ft Wayne has traded 26yo C Tom Hammonds and 21yo SS Patrick Crowley to Kansas City for 27yo 3b Troy Phillips. 24 Milwaukee Brewers RHP Bob Jackson will miss 10 months - stretched elbow ligament. 25 The Altoona Mountain Citys have traded 26yo LF Manuel Teume and 20yo 2b Gabriel Gonzalez to the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds for 30yo RF Rob MacKinley. 26 THe Toledo Blue Stockings have traded 29yo 2b Felipe Dominguez to the Keokuk Westerns for 32yo 3b Mike Brannock. 31 Baltimore Marylands SS Joes Negrete will miss 5 months - fractured elbow. 1884 NL May Standings 1884 NA May Standings 1884 AA May Standings 1884 UA May Standings May finds the NL in a bit of a blow out mode as the Boston Beaneaters have put the pedal to the metal and took off on the rest of the league. They have a 9 game lead over the Quakers and it doesnt look good. The NA has shown no such desire to get things clear. In League 1, the Olympics are out in front but Rockford, the Whites and Middletown are all close and in the hunt. In League 2, New Haven is in front but the Marylands, Centenniels and Eckfords are all in the hunt as well. The AA is taking a little better shape, but still it is a three team race. The Browns are in first with the Eclipse and Nationals right behind them. In the New UA, the Eastern League is pretty much a 5 team race, only the Altoona team is over 6 games back, but under the right conditions they could even be in it. The Generals are on top for now. In the Western League, Milwaukee leads but again, it is so close, St Paul and St Louis are only a half game back and even the slow to start Cowboys could be back in the race. Very interesting diversity in the UA, should be fun to watch.

In the NA, League 1 is lead by the Rockford Red Rocks, one game up on the Olympics, Whites and Mansfields. League 2 has the Centenniels and Marylands on top and the Eckfords 1 game back and New Haven 3 games out. In the AA, The St Louis Brown are on top and have a three game cushion over the Eclipse and it looks as if the Nationals and Athletics, both 6 and a half out, look to be going in the wrong direction. The UA Eastern League has the Genreals 8 games out in front of the Monumentals and in the Western League, a race is on with the Maroons up a game and a half over the Brewers. The slow starting Cowboys have now almost caught the White Caps to move out of last in the West. Some very interesting races and some blow outs at the near halfway point. The second half of the 1884 season coming up later this evening, time to spend some time with my grandson and cook some dinner.
