A new month was just what the Toronto Blue Jays needed! Mike Parrott pitched a 3-hit shut-out as the Jays downed the Seattle Mariners 8-0. Dan Meyer went to town against his former team, going 3 for 4 with a homer and 4 RBI. John Castino's major league debut was a great success as he led-off, hitting 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. Rich Dauer also had a 3 for 5 day. WP - Mike Parrott (4-6) LP - John Tudor (2-2) Record - 23-30 |

Bad news for Toronto. It seems that Mike Barlow has torn his UCL and is expected to miss the next 13 months.
Boudewijn Blom is called up from AAA to take Barlow's bullpen spot. In unrelated news, Valter Jamissen has signed a minor league deal. Last edited by rpriske; 04-26-2013 at 09:25 AM. |

After duelling shut-outs, a balanced, back-and-forth game was in order. Unfortunately for Toronto, it was the Mariners who struck last, downing the Jays 6-4. WP - Doc Medich (5-6) Save - Elias Sosa (11) LP - Jim Clancy (0-3) Record - 23-32 |

This was ugly. Pete Vuckovich ran into some troubles and Hartsfield turned to rookie Boudewijn Blom who threw gasoline onto the fire. Final 10-2 for the Angels. WP - Bill Lee (4-3) LP - Pete Vuckovich (4-9) Record - 23-33 |

Jerome Thomson led off with a homerun and never stopped hitting! He didn't quite hit for the cycle but that is because instead of a double, he hit an extra homer! His fifth time to the plate, they walked him. 4 for 4 with 2 dingers and 4 RBI. The Jays won 7-5 over the Angels. WP - Ed Whitson (5-0) Save - Mark Clear (6) LP - Dan Petry 7-3 Record - 24-33 |

The Blue Jays did enough against Nolan Ryan but then they unloaded on the Angels' bullpen, defeating California 8-3. John Castino went 3 for 6 with a couple of RBI. WP - Mike Parrott (5-6) Save - Rick Camp (1) LP - Nolan Ryan (9-4) Record - 25-33 |

It took 10 innings but the Blue Jays were able to get past Mike Norris and the Oakland A's, 3-1. WP - Dennis DeBarr (2-1) Save - Mark Clear (7) LP - Mike Norris (8-4) Record - 26-33 |

Minor league signings:
Bobby Cueller Mac Allen Orlando Cruz In case anyone is wondering why so many minor league signings, it is because my pitching in the minors is so poor, I can't find people to pitch in A and short A. They keep being sent down so I keep looking for new arms. |

Pete Vuckovich pitched a 2-hit shutout against the Athletics, walking 1 and striking out 3! He had a perfect game until he walked a batter in the 5th. He gave up a hit in the 6th and another in the 9th, but Oakland was never threatened as Toronto won 3-0. WP - Pete Vuckovich (5-9) LP - Bart Johnson (8-4) Record - 27-33 |

The Blue Jays win their 5th straight, downing the A's 7-5. Jerome Thomson went 1 for 4 but that one was a homer and some other productive outs led him to 4 RBI and 2 runs scored. WP - Ed Whitson (6-0) Save - Mark Clear (8) LP - Mike Torrez (2-11) Record - 28-33 |

The Blue Jays were able to come back and make it close, but just couldn't get that tying run, as they fell 3-2 to Seattle. There may be some bad blood as a Leon Roberts take out slide at second sent Craig Reynolds off the field. WP - Rick Honeycutt (5-5) Save - Byron McLaughlin (2) LP - Mike Parrott (5-7) Record - 28-34 |

Down 5-4 to the Mariners, with men on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Jerome Thomson blasted what would have been the game winning hit, but Julio Cruz made an amazing defensive play to save the game for Seattle. WP - Doc Medich (6-7) Save - Elias Sosa (13) LP - Jim Clancy (0-4) Record - 28-35 |

Leon Roberts' 2nd homerun of the year broke the tie in the bottom of the 8th, giving Toronto a 7-6 win over the Angels in the first half of a double-header. Matt Robinson went 2 for 4 with a homer and 2 RBI. WP - Rick Camp (2-0) Save - Mark Clear (9) LP - Bill Lee (4-4) Record - 29-35 |

Wow. Toronto just beat the Angels 19-2. They scored 10 runs in one inning. John Castino became the first Jay to hit for the cycle. Three team records were tied: Hits in a game: 5 (John Castino) Runs scored in a game: 4 (Rich Dauer) RBI in a game: 7 (John Castino) The homerun that Castino got to make up part of the cycle was his first in the majors. Carlos Hernandez got his 2nd of the year. Joe Nolan got his 3rd. WP - Pete Vuckovich (6-9) LP - Dan Petry (8-4) Record - 30-35 |
