The Knights beat the Sharks 26-4 on Monday night, which was not a good result for the Tigers as they are now back to being one game behind them.
Looks like everyone from 11th downwards is out of the running now, with the Knights and Raiders still a chance to overtake the Tigers and Broncos for the final two playoff spots. 1ST: BULLDOGS 16-5 2ND: STORM 14-7 3RD: RABBITOHS 14-7 4TH: SEA EAGLES 13-8 5TH: COWBOYS 12-9 6TH: SHARKS 11-9-1 7TH: BRONCOS 11-10 8TH: TIGERS 11-10 9th: Knights 10-11 10th: Raiders 10-11 11th: Titans 9-12 12th: Dragons 9-12 13th: Warriors 8-13 14th: Roosters 7-13-1 15th: Panthers 6-15 16th: Eels 6-15 With five Sydney teams in the top eight there's a good chance that we'll have just the second all-Sydney grand final in eight years. |

Week 24 schedule
Friday night Broncos (7th) vs Storm (2nd) Bulldogs (1st) vs Tigers (8th) Saturday night Raiders (10th) vs Roosters (14th) Sharks (6th) vs Rabbitohs (3rd) Warriors (13th) vs Panthers (15th) Sunday afternoon Titans (11th) vs Eels (16th) Sea Eagles (4th) vs Knights (9th) Monday night Dragons (12th) vs Cowboys (5th) ========== So only a couple of matchups that don't have any bearing on the playoffs, but even those are important in their own way as the Eels and Panthers are fighting to avoid finishing last and getting the dreaded "Wooden Spoon". |

Goin' out to the Olympic stadium tonight to see the Bulldogs vs Tigers game. My boss is a Bulldogs member so he gets two tickets to each of their home games and he invited me to go. Gonna be sittin' in the middle of a bunch of Doggies fans.

Saturday results
RAIDERS 24 Roosters 20 SHARKS 20 Rabbitohs 7 The Raiders are now level with the Broncos and Tigers on 11 wins, but are 9th on tiebreakers. Meanwhile the Sharks clinched a playoff berth and the Rabbits will fall to 4th if the Sea Eagles beat the Knights by 24 points or more today. Conversely, if the Knights win they will jump from 10th to 8th, pushing the Tigers to 9th and the Raiders to 10th. We'll then have four teams tied on 11 wins, fighting for the final two playoff spots with two weeks remaining.

Panthers 18 WARRIORS 16 TITANS 24 Eels 16 SEA EAGLES 42 Knights 20 Yet another choke job from the free-falling Warriors, who led 16-6 with 20 minutes to play. Six straight losses for them now. With both the Tigers and Broncos losing, the Titans are now back in the playoff picture, being just one win out of 8th place. The Sea Eagles killed the Knights in the 1st half, leading 38-4 at halftime. But they suffered a quartet of injuries and with still half an hour to play their bench was empty, which allowed the Knights to reduce the deficit. If the Sea Eagles had scored one more point they would have replaced the Rabbitohs in 3rd place. As it is, they are still 4th. The Knights are not out of it yet but they will struggle to make it with games against the Cowboys and Rabbitohs in the final two weeks of the season. |

The Melbourne Storm scored a 20-18 win over the Cronulla Sharks to complete the penultimate week of the regular season. They trailed 18-10 win three minutes to play but shocked the Sharks by scoring two tries, the second coming with just 30 seconds on the clock.
As a consequence the Storm still have a chance to finish the season in 1st place. If they beat the Tigers next week and the Roosters defeat the Bulldogs, Melbourne will finish 1st. 1ST: BULLDOGS 17-6 2ND: STORM 16-7 3RD: RABBITOHS 15-8 4TH: SEA EAGLES 15-8 5TH: COWBOYS 14-9 6TH: SHARKS 12-10-1 7TH: RAIDERS 12-11 8TH: BRONCOS 11-12 9th: Tigers 11-12 ![]() 10th: Titans 10-13 11th: Knights 10-13 12th: Dragons 10-13 13th: Roosters 8-14-1 14th: Warriors 8-15 15th: Panthers 8-15 16th: Eels 6-17 Three of the four teams that have featured in the last two grand finals are currently in 12th, 13th and 14th place, with the defending champions Manly in 4th and looking in good shape for a return trip to the decider. Week 26 schedule Broncos vs Panthers Knights vs Rabbitohs Titans vs Sea Eagles Bulldogs vs Roosters Tigers vs Storm Warriors vs Raiders Sharks vs Cowboys Eels vs Dragons ===== There's a number of interesting scenarios going into the final week. As I already mentioned, the race to finish the regular season in 1st place is still alive. As for the Rabbits and Sea Eagles, if they win they'll almost certainly be staying where they are. HOWEVER, if they lose and the Cowboys win, North Queensland could jump to 3rd place and either the Sea Eagles or Rabbits could fall out of the top 4. That Sharks-Cowboys game is a big one 'cause it also has a bearing on who finishes 6th. If the Sharks lose, and the Raiders beat the Warriors, the Raiders will jump to 6th and they'll be hosting the Sharks in a sudden-death playoff game in week one. Meanwhile, the scenario for my Tigers is grim. They need to beat the Storm and then hope that either the Broncos or Raiders lose. Hoping for a Broncos loss is the better bet because they are on a six-game losing streak and the Warriors have been woeful the last couple of months so will be long odds to beat the surging Raiders. |

Friday night results
Rabbitohs 18 KNIGHTS 6 BRONCOS 19 Panthers 12 The Rabbitohs clinched a top-four berth with their win, meaning the earliest they can be eliminated in the playoffs is week two. The Broncos clinched 8th place at worst, but will be 7th if the Raiders lose tomorrow to the Warriors. So now the only chance for my Tigers is for them to beat the Storm (of course) and then hope the Raiders lose. But even if those two things happen it might not be enough. They need the difference in margins between their win and a Raiders loss to be 14 points. So if they were to beat the Storm by, say, 6 points tonight, they would need the Raiders to lose by at least 8. |

Raiders 42 WARRIORS 22 Cowboys 36 SHARKS 22 Dragons 29 EELS 8 A costly loss for the Sharks when coupled with the Raiders' win. The consequence is that the Raiders jumped to 6th and the Sharks dropped to 7th. They will now play each other in Canberra in the first week of the playoffs, a home game for the Raiders. The sport farewelled four veterans with a combined total of over 1,000 games played to conclude the regular season in the Dragons-Eels match. Nathan Hindmarsh and Luke Burt (Eels) and Dean Young and Ben Hornby from the Dragons brought down the curtain on their careers. Dragons spoil Hindmarsh farewell |

Well, that was a disappointing result. Now my Rabbitohs are on life-support...
