Surprised with both of these guys, and their salaries make it worse. Hopefully prime see's them both make huge gains.

Moment of the Match

One second........Just one second turned an Ice Tea victory into a draw. John L Sullivan was in a spirited battle with Hans Jorgen Jacobsen heading into the final round. In this round the fury of 'The Boston Strongboy' was unleashed as he dropped Jacobsen with a brutal uppercut. Jacobsen regained his feet, but was sent down again 35 seconds later with a savage left hook. Again Jacobsen pulled himself up and Sullivan attacked, delivering a woodshed beating as Hans looked to survive with the fight winding to a close. Just before the bell another Sullivan uppercut landed with frightening force and Lou Moret jumped in, stopping proceedings at the 2:59 mark!!! One second from going the distance in what turned out to be the only Buckeye win on the evening, and the deciding moment of the match.

with the 3 round format I looked at slow starts closely when scouting

I wondered how many teams would look at that

I think Mervine Thompson is a perfect example of this paying off for you.

The funny thing with Moore though is he is a 2 in this category, like many others, but he always seems to do better in the 3rd round.

I always spend time scouting, and familiarity with the the league rules and format is a big part of the process.

Just a reminder, if any changes to your lineups for rounds 11 and 12 are due by the end of the day.

Right now 6 of the 8 teams are mathematically still in the running for the Wildhawke Memorial Trophy, presented to the League Champion and named in honor of our late friend Danny Cahalin.

Moment of the Match

The great ones find a way to get in done and with his team trailing the entire match Jersey Joe Walcott needed a sweep to gain the victory for Ice Tea. There is a reason Walcott is the longest reigning Chilton Cup Champion to date as he shook off a sluggish start to deliver a boxing lesson to 'Boston Boy' Joe Lannon and in doing so keep Ice Tea's barely flickering hopes at the league title alive, though the lads would need a lot of help to pull off that miracle. This battle also featured two miraculous 1st round survival stories as both Manuel Quezada and Al McCoy were down twice, but hung on in to finish upright, which as fans of the WTB know can make a big difference in the outcome.

Moment of the Match

The scene was set for a Hollywood ending. After splitting the first 2 rounds of the final bout Buckeye Promotions and Nebraska stood tied at 6. It was a chance once again for Neilson-mania to re-emerge after back to back losses. The round progressed just as scripted with Neilson hammering Dunlap and building a sizeable lead that looked to be insurmountable, barring a catastrophy. But as you know, Hollywood stories do not always have a happy ending and a Dunlap hook landed with tremendous force on Neilson's jaw with under a minute to go. Neilson stayed up, but immediately turned away from his opponent. Referee Rudy Battle consulted with Neilson, who shook his head several times. Battle turned and waved the fight off. Neilson had quit due to a broken jaw and left the Nebraska fans with broken hearts.

Moment of the Match

Bears Unstable have shown a knack for exploding at times this season and with the chase for the Wildhawke Memorial Trophy entering the home stretch, Lloyd Marshall ignited a powder keg again. Up 4-1 after Altus Allen cemented his monicker as 'King of the Draw' Marshall caught Quinn Navare with glancing hook across his right Eyebrow. Almost immediately Navarre's face was adorned with the crimson mask, as the blood gushed freely. Referee Richard Steele stepped in and promptly waved it off giving Bears Unstable a 9-1 lead. Still, Hebron was favored in the final 2 bouts, but it was all for naught as both Cooney and Izon were upset, providing a crushing blow to Hebron's hopes.

Moment of the Match

It would take a miracle, but Louisville still had a chance going into the final match against Washington. The 'Aurora Lunberjack' Terry Hinke would have to fight like he had never fought in his life to salvage a draw, but Tommy Gibbons made sure that would not happen. Not known as a power puncher, Gibbons sat down on his shots and perfectly time right hand down the pipe caught Hinke cold, dropping him on his back with just 14 seconds left in the 1st round where he was counted out. With three matches to go, 1 game seperates the top 4 teams and Washington is right there after, a half game back after taking their 7th straight win! In addition to the team win, Lorenzo Zanon lifted the Chilton Cup Title with an impressive white washing of defending Champion Manual Ramos.

Moment of the Match

Sometimes it is what you show with your heart and not your hands that counts. As Corrie Sanders lay on his back in the first round, courtesy of a David Izon right cross, there was only one thought in his mind. He needed to get up and go the distance. Not only did Sanders survive Izon's early onslaught, he actually won the last two rounds to right the ship of the floundering Cornjabbers, and insure that they entered the final two rounds of the campaign in no worse than a tie for 1st place. Sanders determination was brought even further to the forefront after Gerry Cooney dispatched Eddie Neilson in 1 round in the finale, as it not only kept Nebraska firmly in the hunt for the league crown, but eliminated Hebron, placing them no less than 3.5 games back with 2 matches to go.

Moment of the Match

In a match fought for nothing but pride as both teams were eliminated from Title contention coming in, it was Joe Kennedy that exemplified what pride meant. A 3-1 underdog to Terry Hinke in the final bout, Kennedy tore into Hinke from the get go, employing an agressive windmilling style that had his foe on his heels. Hinke fought back brilliantly in spurts, scoring a high volume of punches in his win right, but he could not match Kennedy's pace. As the final bell rang, the home crowd rose to their feet and serenaded the mighty Kennedy for his dogged determination, as the latter bowed to each side of the ring, clearly touched by the applause.
