I've never understood why someone would a)Remember/misremember something said over a year ago, b)Go find the thread so they can bump it a year later, and c)Give a rat's ass about it in the first place enough to post about it so long after the fact.

Its kind of disturbing, really.

Somebody needs to tell PittPanther this isn't the ESPN or Yahoo boards. People act like adults here.

Edwards had 53 catches this season for 7 TDs. In what was the biggest game of the season, he caught only 3 passes out of 7 thrown his way. If you want to debate whether Edwards "turned out to be ok," no problem. I never said Edwards wasn't "ok". But a number 3 overall pick being "ok" means that he is a disappointment. A number 3 overall pick isn't supposed to be "ok."

I will go a step further. Edwards can be good. I saw it in Cleveland. I never said he sucked. He is just wildly inconsistent, and he hasn't changed much in New York. He had 8 games this season with 4 or more catches. He had 10 games with less than 4. He broke 100 receiving yards in a game ONCE. If he could be consistent, he could be a very good receiver in this league. As it is, he's just a solid receiver. Nothing more.

And I actually had to root for the Steelers two weeks in a row. I will never root for the Ravens and I could not root for the Jets. All they do is talk. As much as I hate the Steelers, they do their talking on the field and I can respect that. Not that I think they will get past the Packers. Packers are a damn good team and Pittsburgh doesn't play a consistent 4 quarters of football.
I believe that Edwards' play this season is more a result of Sanchez. All in all, I believe that Sanchez just looks really, really bad on the field. I mean, I've watched Bills games, Dolphins games, Lions games, Cowboys games, I've seen plenty this season, and their quarterbacks always seemed to have that game every once in a while where the moved their team downfield well. You can't really say that about Sanchez. You want to talk about a bust? How about a 6th overall pick that the team that drafted him traded a 2nd round pick and 3 decent players for to trade up and draft, with 38 starts in his first two NFL seasons, still looking dazed and confused, consistently missing throws. If Sanchez doesn't improve in his third season, I will be 100% on the Sanchez hate bandwagon. I mean, with how the Jets' defense plays in the second half of games, any QB could have led this team into the playoffs.

I called for the Jets to pick Flacco. I PRAYED they'd stay where they were in the draft and pick Freeman rather than trade up and pick nanny boy Sanchez. Look at the terrible quarterbacking they've gotten, and look at the success Flacco and Freeman have had this season. It just goes to show, 1 big game in college does not mean that a player will have success at the next level (or a huge combine, for that matter; I had also prayed the Jets wouldn't pick Vernon Gholston, and we all saw how that went).

I just saw this and totally agree!

Edwards is an average NFL reciever right now, nothing more. I agree with BB, he is so inconsistent. He has all of the physical tools to be a top 5 reciever in the league, but the 6 inches between his ears is the part that is holding him back. He is not smart, and he proves it with his off the field troubles and his antics on the field. I TOTALLY agree that for the #3 overall pick, he is a huge disappointment, and I personally am glad he is not in a Browns uni anymore.

Eh, PP doesn't really have an argument for disputing my point on Edwards, he just wanted to poke his head in and stick his tongue out while singing a song about the Steelers being in the Super Bowl again. Whoopdie do. I couldn't care less that the Steelers are there. It doesn't alter my Super Bowl plans one iota. I'd have been rooting for the Packers regardless.

He just gets a kick out of putting down Cleveland and Cleveland fans, which is immature, and it's not even original.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Wow....Isn't Sanchez the same QB that has the most playoff wins in Jets franchise history...and has won all 4 on the road? Wow, NY certainly is tough on it's players. I personally think that he has some good intangibles that make him a competitor, sure he's not Brady or Peyton, but he isn't Derek Anderson or Alex Smith either. I really don't have a dog in the fight because I can't stand USC, and really am indifferent about the Jets. I'm a Browns fan, and I would gladly trade you Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace for Sanchez. I think that he is young and improving, Jets fans should not blame Sanchez for the loss. The Steelers D was tough, and that sack/fumble hit was brutal. I think just about any QB, even Roethlesberger would have fumbled that ball on THAT hit.

Be glad for what you've got Jets fans, you could call Browning Nagle and see what he is doing these days!

Yeah, I know, it isn't original. Pittburgh sports fans are pretty crude imo. I might have to buy a Packer T shirt to wear during the SB this year. Man, I can't stand the Steelers. Good news is they look like the inferior team going into the game in my opinion.

What do you think of the Shurmur hire? I don't hear much about it down here other than the national wire. I want something to look forward to after 11 years of crap from this franchise. Are we addressing the needs of the team? We need something to be excited over, I'm tired of being a double digit loing team, and I'm hoping that perhaps this new staff can bring McCoy along and turn him into a good pro QB. I like what I've seen so far.

Well, Shurmer's a Homgren kind of guy and has worked with Heckert before. They hope he can bring McCoy along like he did Bradford. It's not a sexy pick. I think that Holmgren just wanted to steer clear of bringing in an ego as head coach, even one with the same philosophy. He likes grooming coaches almost as much as quarterbacks, I think.

I'm really interested to see this team use the west coast offense. Still need a true #1 receiver for it, but Robiskie grew a lot this year in the slot position and we Hillis is a back who can catch the ball. Watson is a great target. My only issue with the west coast offense is that it limits the amount of plays Vickers will be on the field. Though, I think that the switch to the new offense should spark some excitement.

Not sure about the switch back to a 4-3 defense, though. We'll see how that turns out...
