With the game's release due in a few weeks- I'm a little concerned that the first screenshots we are getting aren't really indicative of any real improvements.....Hopefully the good stuff is being held back. If not, this version is setting itself up to be the least ambitious release since....well, OOTP8.

I agree. I remember when OOTP2006 was being prepared for release we got a slew of screen shots that were mostly new ways of displaying data we already had access to in the previous version. The community was agog, and I kept thinking... um, where are the features? It's good to see improved text scouting reports making a comeback after their two year banishment. Otherwise... a skin, a scaling back of a report that was fine as it was, and a change to scouting don't get me too excited.

Damn, I hate being critical of this game, 'cuz it really is an amazing piece of programming for the baseball lover. And hell yes I'll be buying it. But show me something that will make me want to play it.

I feel the same way. And I am a longtime supporter of this game.

Don't worry... Feature-wise, I think we add more features for new versions than any other company doing sports games, and it's not even close.

It's all a matter of what you assess your money value.

To me, the cost for every version was very fair and I never minded paying it.

I compared it to other games, there was one that you had to pay like $30 to get the new roster for each year. So OOTP is way ahead of that.

OOTP8 was a very minimal cost, I saw it as contributing to help Markus stay in the market. If he ever decides to pack it in because it isn't worth the money then where is that going to leave us? I feel that we are blessed to have him make this wonder of a game with updates every year.

How many games were dropped in the past? Without us making our contributions, that's what will happened.

Have you compared the positioning of the tabs and pull downs in comparison to OOTP 2007?

Sounds great Markus- looking forward to seeing the improvements (here's hoping for a better pitching model and better roster AI)...!

Yeah me too. I dont care that scouting is being redone cause i still wont use it and i dont care for the new pink skin. The interface doesnt look that much better, I was hoping for a new one. Any word the Sim screen being accessible? Its still the best screen in the game.

I'm not seeing this 'pink skin' other than on the Cincinnati page, I thought the borders were kind of a beige? Or are my colors all hosed again?

I like it the way it is too, you can't say it's bad at all, but I think some people were hoping it might go the way of say Football Manager 2008.

I know a lot of people like and want the dynamic reports, but bottom line is, they just ain't realistic.

Or 6.5. I like it the way it is too.

I'm not sure why folks are worried about the "scope" of the update. 1st, we haven't seen it all. 2nd, OOTP8 is a pretty good game. I don't think major updates are required every year, particularly when you've got a really good game already.

So make them an option that the hardcore players can turn off.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Just wondering if you've ever played Fm 2008?? The scope and depth of it is amazing. Why would you not want OOTP to be the FM of baseball sims? Not to turn this into a 6.5 vs. whatever debate, but why would you bring up something that is clearly in the past, and simply not a direction the game should or will be going in?
