My bad, I guess that was one of the reasons I thought I paid for the update was for this roster that is suppose to work. I have run test seasons and it is messed up as all the current day players end up with poor fielding ratings within 3-4 years but I guess you want to ignore that. Unfortunately I dont have the time to mess around all day running different tests to "show you proof" so I guess nothing will get done about this.

Erich has commented on this already but I just want to make this clear: This isn't about the stat's- though errors do go up (at least until the AI refuses to play these players anymore).. And that's the point. These player's are so poor they can no longer play ANY position in the field...so the AI doesn't play them. 31, 32 year old players who are physically incapable of taking the field. How can I be any more clear about this? This isn't about a few people. It would be easier to find the exceptions. If this is realistic for you, then you didn't need an accurate roster set to begin with. I am not going to do the obvious math. Heck, pull up the roster set before simming a day and look how many 31+ players logged significant time in 2006 vs. 2011. My examples were just that; I thought I stated that the problem was rampant..I guess I will need to go back and re-read my first post. |

I haven't read through any of the posts here, but I'm linking Tech Support threads related to this Quickstart:

The third one which relates to the Iowa Cubs is due to a mistake in the schedule in which the Cubs were not scheduled to play any games but another team was given a double schedule. I have gone through and cleaned this up in the schedule I do believe since then and when we get a new version out to people it should be ok.

Does this set actually work, or are their instability problems the crop over time? If it works I'll buy 8, if not I'll just wait for 9, and continue working with Cubby's set on 2007.

Right now it seems there are issues with defensive ratings tanking on some players. We are trying to get it worked out.

Am not a techie, but have wondered for awhile, just how accurate a roster set going past current yrears can stay. does this aging crash problem have any possible relationship to not having actual numbers? When the game engine runs out of actual stats, how does it react? What does it base ratings on?
I have personally decided that roster sets are really only good for a 1 year sim. In the future i will only play from past years and using a DB as I have no interest in fictional players and getting ahead of history.

I see there are a whole host of stadiums in this set, but that none are assigned to minor league teams. Are these ballparks actual minor league parks, or are they fictional? If they are real, how can I figure out which park goes with what team? Also, when it comes to weather, what takes precedence, the team city, or the stadium city? In other words, which determines weather effects?

Anyone?...How do you know which ballparks should be assigned to which minor league teams? None of them appear to be real.

Injuries and OOTP8
How do I reset the injuries that come with the OOTP 8 MLB rosters?
I wanted to run a realistic season with the 2008 rosters with Cubbyfan's set but I am playing with the Yankees and their stats through the first 20 games are just ridiculous! Please help! |

Does anyone have a roster set with correct correct history and minor league teams? I am not looking for an up to date roster set, just one that actually has the history for all the MLB teams that is fairly recent. |

Anyone have updated rosters for OOTP 8? The newest set I can find is Cubby Fan's November update.

I could not find the MLB Quick Start thread on the General Discussions board, so I'll post these here if you don't mind.
First, the addition of the AZL Padres is accurate, of course, but it renders the MLB Quick Start useless for generating and saving a template for a future game. Try it; you can save it as a template but if you try to use it to start a new game, it comes up with an error and abends. The message is something about having an odd number of teams (9) in the Arizona League. (Edit: See below.) Second, it's the Greenville (SC) Drive in the South Atlantic League, and the Greeneville (TN) Astros in the Appalachian League. The difference is the "e" after "Green." It's funny how this switcheroo has been perpetuated over the years; I remember correcting this at least three times. Gamers should remember to rename the team logos to match. Edit: Here's the template error message: Edit 2: Yes, I am aware that you can still alter teams and division alignments in templates as you load them; however, when you select the AZL to reduce it to eight teams, the game puts in all fictional data, including removing the MLB affiliations. Better have an idea of who was who, where they played, and whom they reported to when that happens. Instead, the way I got around it was to reassign in the quickstart game the AZL team of the Royals, who already had 7 minor league affiliates including three rookie teams, to the Padres who had no rookie league team at all. Then I saved it as a template, etc. You can add the AZL Padres to the new game if desired; I left it the way I had it. Edit 3: Why would I want to save it as a template, you ask? (You do? ) Well, the main reason is that I want to start my Millennium League in 2001 and a quickstart does not allow you to make any changes in the start year. Otherwise, this MLB Quickstart game was a damned fine effort and I would have used it as is (except flushing out the real players and stocking up with fictional ones) if it were not for the start year. This way, I get the team and league setup (and parks.dat and downloaded logos, uniforms, etc. copied from the quickstart game) as well as the capability of starting my game in 2001.
