Ratings Method

Assuming that I wanted to try my own roster by importing a 2006 roster, are you guys using PECOTA for projections for 2007?

Thx

Well I am helping out with NL East minors and let me tell you, this is a horrendous task and time consuming :P

My hats off to the boys who have put in the bulk of this cause I now know from experience, it isn't an easy task.

That said I started last night and have only 3 teams done

For those following the thread:

I have just completed the CSV file that has every player on their correct major and minor league team as of the 1st of April. There was about 3900 names I went through. I have now forwarded the file on to Rolen to import to the game (About noon EST). I'm sure he is working today but I will contact him and further offer my assistance to get this project complete.

Erich and Jackflash, along with all of the others, toward this project is much appreciated by a lurker such as myself. It seems like we are on the cusp of getting this roster set released.

This just sounds incredible, and I want to thank everyone who is working on this set.

I have a question...Of the ~4000 players, about how many have had their ratings adjusted to match (somewhat, even) their real attibutes? I know that as you get down to the first-year guys, it's nearly impossible to get solid scouting info, but I'm just trying to get some idea.

Again, thanks for all this great work!

Steve

I work on getting everyone to match their abilities. I don't like to put out players with fake ratings. There will be some that still need to be reworked I am sure as I have missed fixing some but the idea is to have 100% rated, I would say that when the first version is released it will be about 90% rated.

I am still tweaking my ratings formulas and will probably always be looking at ways to make the ratings better and more true to life. With my formulas I do take into account, Age, level, league, stadium as well as other factors to try and get a true read on the players ability to perform presently and into the future.

Fortunately with my new partners here, I am able to get all the stats that I need to put together the files and tweak the ratings. So going forward it will basically be to scrape the new stats and then let the computer do it's work and then to follow up and tweak players that I think need to be improved. The key will be that Markus doesn't change the base core of the game.

Sounds great Erich. With all the selfless help you've gotten in the past few weeks, this should be a great roster set. Good job everyone. Looking forward to the complete set soon!

Just so you guys know, I am still waiting on another small piece of information that I should have tonight or tomorrow, but just to give you an idea of the depth of stats in the game now.

When I import the fielding stats there will be just short of 31000 lines of text being imported presently, and that is not including a lot of minor league stats for the present major leaguers and for the 2006 draft class. I hope that gives you an idea of what we are trying to produce with this set.

Thumbs up

Fantastic news!! To all that have offered their help and time a big thank you, and this one comes from as far away as Germany.

Erich, it must be a hell of a job to hold the strings together and make sure that all things come up in one piece. Great project managing!

Once again, thanks to all involved for making the game even more enjoyable for the worldwide OOTP community!

A quick update on my end - I ran my stat program last night and generated all the minor league stats for mlb players. I'm going to run some more stats tonight but to give you another idea of the massiveness of this project, my program so far has generated over 60,000 lines of minor league stats. With each line having about 25 - 30 different stats on it that makes over 1.5 million different statistics that have been generated so far. As a guy who loves this game for the stats I'm pretty pumped for this roster.
