Actually it was met to be a little bit of sarcasm... I do mean BUY the preview!

I pre-ordered

I hope I don't waste my money like I did the 2006

But I imagine this will be better then 5, 6, 6.5, and 2006. I can't wait!

Oh, it will be. I firmly believe that from everything that I have seen here so far.

I could not preorder because...

I never received an offer of a discount. Pre-ordering at 20% would have been a stretch for a working stiff like me, so not having any chance of a discount ended any chance of me (a long-time customer and supporter of the OOTP series) getting this years game.

For this I can only say that I am terribly dissapointed with the customer service this year. Apparently the powers that be no longer care about people who have been purchasing their product for these many years.

Sorry, it is just my opinion...

Storytime,

I'm really sorry you missed it, but if you've been reading these forums there was PLENTY of advance publicity about the discount, about how to get it if you didn't get the email originally (I did not), and about when the discount ended. I don't see how ANYBODY can use this as a reason to slam SI's customer service for this game.

Now if you haven't been checking this forum from time to time since the new year, that's another story, but then, whose fault is THAT? Not customer service. SI has done a more than reasonable job of keeping their customers informed.

-Did you change your email address?

-Did you check the deleted spammed in your email?

-As a devoted fan of the game did you visit the forums on a regular basis? If so then how could you missed ALL the messages about pre-ordering discount? Many were about how to get in touch with Marc who fixed the problems.

-Have you ever thought that maybe some of the responsibility should rest on you for YOUR lack of involvement.

-Instead of drinking pop for a few weeks, drink water. The money you save will make up for the 20% discount.

Just my opinion.

Just in response...

As I have informed Marc, I am not going to get into flaming him or Markus, for the work they put in for this game is incredible. I am 45-years-old. I have a full-time job both away and at home (at home caring for an invalid wife). I have precious little time to go on the internet, much less spend time on these boards. This is only my fourth or fifth visit in the past six months. I understand that the perks must be for people who spend most of their time on thes board, and not for those, like me, who are working stiffs with little or no money left over for luxuries like games. This is the only game that I purchase every year, as I have since OOTP version 3. Unfortunately the streak will end this year as $35 is simply too steep (the 20% discount would have been a stretch also) for someone who lives paycheck to paycheck (and no I do not drink soft drinks or dine on fast food, etc. Those are for the rich...lol).

I have subscribed to the newsletter for some time and have not received one in almost a year. I have attempted to re-subscribe and have been told I am already subscribed, and I received the responses from Marc, so OOTP Developments must not be considered spam on the account.

At any rate, I am angryand hurt...I feel that as a long-time customer I feel, in my humble opinion, that I deserve more consideration than "sorry, you missed out". If you have to spend your life on the message boards to be considered a part of the community (as opposed to shelling out hard-earned money to buy the product), then so be it.

I am sorry to Marc, Markus and everyone else who takes offense at this post, it is simply how I feel.

Sorry dude, you missed out. SI & OOTPD can't make sure everyone gets and reads the newsletter... they did everything possible to advertise this sale. You can be disappointed all you want, but to be angry at people because of this is silly.

I'm a loyal customer at the local independent record store, now if I don't go by there for awhile and they have a sale... and I miss or accidentally throw out the flyer they send me... and I miss the sale, then that's my tough luck.

I mean what do you want them to do, call you and tell you about the discount?

Sorry that you missed the discount too. I have been in your shoes at one time, money situation, not my wife thankfully. It's no fun when every penny is valuable and 8 bucks could just as well be a hundred because either one means you can't afford to buy something.

IMHO SI and Marc did a good job trying to get the info out and it's too bad you missed it. From past years the 20% probably won't be back but SI usually runs a 10% off around the all-star game. Of course I don't know if it's planned this year but if it helps you might want to check back off and on between now and then.

I sincerely hope that helps.

Just to tidy up one point there, getting mails from me and getting newsletters are two different things. I send from a different mail server than the newsletter.

I preordered. I got the discount, too.

As bad as OOTP2006 was - and, damn, it was bad - so many testers whose judgment I respect have written to tell me or posted publicly that OOTP2007 is going to be very worthwhile that I preordered a copy and am looking forward to playing it.

As to where I am, I lurk here once in a while, but mainly I'm busy with real life and I pretty much got out of the habit of posting on forums (although I am actively part of an email group, as those of you who are also in it know). I travel a lot, the new house is a never-ending source of projects, I have a dog who expects a very long walk every day and talks to me if he doesn't get one, I have a new motorcycle, and in the past year my wife somehow managed to insert us into high society when I wasn't looking and now I spend way too much time at events, receptions, dinner parties, and wine and cheese parties with the rich-but-not-so-famous (in fact, I'm off to one in a few minutes).

By the way, I do have an alias, but there aren't any W's in its name. It is nice of some of you to miss me so very, very much.
