twins.mlb.com. There's a link there somewhere.

Francisco Liriano - 2 IP, 3 K, 0 H. 1-1, RBI.

Doubtful. The only time they would have a snowout would be World Series time and even that is doubtful.

Predictions:
Rainouts/year - 3
Snowouts/year - .20

After 23 years of Minnesota weather, I can tell you that it will definitely pull a snow job in April and/or May.

No way. For the last several years, we haven't had much snow in April; let alone May. At least nothing that would cause a snowout.

Visiting the dome for the first time.

My wife and I are planning to take a weeklong vacation at one of the many beautiful lakes in Minnesota in the middle of July. On our way back I have convinced her to stop in the Twin Cities so that we may catch a ballgame. I'm looking for any suggestions that you guys could give to help us out; I've seen through the post that a couple of you have been to a handful of games already this year, so who better to ask!

Q1: Is it easy to get walk-up tickets the day of the game, or should we order now?

Q2: Is there a preferred place that fans like to sit? Is the Home Run Porch deal (dog and drink) a good way to go?

Q3: Game time is 7:10 on a Friday. How is the traffic? Should we plan extra time in for delays?

Q4: Is parking hard to find? Is the Twins Metro Transit Pass the best way to go, or no?

Q5: Any suggestions on what to get at the concession stand?

Thanks for all your help!

Walk-up tickets are pretty easy to get. I'd say you're guaranteed upper deck tickets and most likely could get LF and probably could get 1B/Home/3B tickets. I love sitting in LF (I think those tickets are like $16).

Kinda answer that already...oops. There is a family pack (4 people, I believe) but I don't know what the home run porch deal is. I love those seats, as I said before and I think they are typically $16 or so. Upper deck is GA and it is tough to get a good spot (I recommend if you get Upper Deck GA to sit under Harmon Killebrew/Jackie Robinson banners.

Depends where you are coming from and when you are going. Traffic getting to the dome is always pretty rough. The games I've gone to have been Wednesday night from Western Wisconsin and I left at about 5:00 and got there about 6:00.

Parking is not difficult to find at all. The thing about parking is it is so tough to get out. I've never used the metro, but iirc it is like $1 both ways or something. My parents have taken it and loved it. I don't know where the stations are, but I think there is one at the Mall of America; so you could hit that up during the day...or something.

Things are pretty expensive, just to warn you. The beer is expensive ($6.25), if you drink. I doubt you could find anything for less than $3.

Friday games are a bit worse to get tix on a walk-up basis. If you want lower deck, buy them on ticketmaster.com or twinsbaseball.com and use the will-call system. Upper deck GA isn't bad at all though, and the tix are around $8. Tim was spot on with the "under the banners" suggestion, but I like both outfield corners.

The homerun porch is a good deal, but it is also where the drunkest fans sit. So, depending on your preferred ballpark atmosphere is the best answer I can give. Personally, my favorite seats in the entire stadium are the ones right behind third base, the first 5 rows or so. Problem is, they are mostly season ticket holders.

Where will you be coming from? Traffic into downtown is a bit tedious on friday nights, but it isn't too bad. Leaving will be worse, especially this year, since when the twins win, they close off the road outside the stadium to do a fireworks show.

My friends and I tailgate, and we park in a little lot on Portland Ave & 3rd St. (about a 6-8 block walk to the stadium) Costs $5-$10 depending on the day (on friday it will most likely be $10). Never taken the light rail, but a LOT of people pour out of it before first pitch.

Are you on a tight budget? If so, Dome Dogs are probably your best bet. If not, there is a Famous Daves stand! better yet, don't eat at the dome; eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory (map)

Of course! I'd be happy to talk about going to a twins game all day long!

We'll be coming in on 94 from the west (from Park Rapids area). I'm looking at Minneapolis on Google Earth, and it looks like one big cluster of highways! We'd like to get there about an hour early for the 7:10 start.
Any hints or suggestions would be great!

Thanks again for all of your help!

Oh, one more thing... is there any way you guys could pull some strings so that I could Liriano or Santana pitch?

Well no matter where you are coming from or going, the traffic will be pretty bad when you leave, it won't be so bad when you're coming to the game. It's just the first couple miles on the highway are really congested but after you get going a couple miles, traffic isn't bad at all.

Since you are coming from 94W, don't bother with Metro-Transit. The train only runs south and wouldn't be much help to you. Traffic isn't that bad after games anyway.
