If the original ref made such a horrible blatant mistake, I don't understand why overturning it would be difficult - unless it was a close play that 70% of the people who watched the game would be complaining about regardless of which way it was called.

I have no idea how this relates to anything I said. All I said originally, and all I meant, was that I'd prefer to see officials choose to not call it a score unless they're sure of it. It was an aside amidst my main point that the call was so close it could have reasonably been called either way.

I agree with you here.

Are you sure the official was unsure?

I think he's just unsure the official was sure.

To be fair, I don't think the official was sure at all. He came running in from the sideline with one hand up at first, as though to signal he was spotting the ball short of the goal line. Then upon seeing the configuration of Roethlisberger laying there, determined a touchdown. I still thought it was a touchdown originally, but then again, I'm a biased Falcons fan.

I think you are wrong. I have physical proof in the below picture that shows the official was wrong!

Okay, even as a Steelers' fan, I found that picture funny...

That's a freaking sweet pic. I didn't know that anyone had blown it up that much. If this pic had only been posted a page or two ago, the debate could have ended without needless bloodshed.

Alas... alas... Hildago was at a local Mexican restaurant the other night and advised me that puerile pummeling and licentious lacerations will at times ensue even when the best intentions are involved.

Apparently, so will mild forms of alliteration in the case of sarcastic posts.
