Now I'm off to get the S251 schedule together. At least I can avoid looking at my teams for another hour or so. Couldn't manage to concince myself to make any big changes during the off season. It's so hard when you're using players that you liked back in the day. I did finally shuffle a few things around and made the big addition of Jack Billingham to one of the staffs. I seem to recall "seeing" him pitch a nice game from one of the top rims at Shea Steadium. We could get free general addmission with 15 (I think) coupons clipped from Borden's milk cartons. We could generally sneak lower down later in the game.
I miss big Shea. It was a dump, but dammit it was our dump. I've been to Citi Field several times, and while it's a nice place to watch a game with no really bad seats, it doesn't feel the same.

Our League Schedule for S 251 - 2027

I just checked my e-mail and Bottom Of The Sixth has sent me the screen shots for I207, so they'll be up also, and I can avoid looking at my crappy teams for another hour. There are 281 OL S251 games.

Annandale, NC Central - 23 Home (H); 25 Away (A)
Asylum, NC Central - 26 H; 24 A
Bluffton, AC West - 30 H; 29 A
Cooper, NC East - 23 H; 26 A
Palolo, NC West - 29 H, 30 A
Port Ruppert, AC West - 30 H; 30 A
Salem, AC East - 18 H; 18 A
Shasta, NC West - 29 H; 28 A
Terra Incognita, NC East -27 H; 26 A
Waffletown, AC Central - 18 H; 14 A (only 3 with Annandale)
Wheatland, AC West - 28 H; 31 A

That way you could make the year bigger on the crowns - which would be easier on my old eyes!

Regardless they look great and you're a champ for doing a bunch of work because some schmoe threw out an idea!

I also agree. I love the look of the different colored crowns however, the wording on the crowns doesn't look good; they look better with no writing on them.

I struggle to find the time to manage 2 teams; one in PT19 (not too demanding these days) and one in PT20 (very demanding).

I have four, and that is a chore in itself. :O After a while though, teams plateau, and there isn't really much you can do with them. I am already having trouble finding affordable upgrades for my teams.

3 on each OOTP are pretty draining to me. I pretty much just focus all my energy on the OL team at this time. The other 5 are on semi-autopilot at the moment.

In baseball, you can always "expect the unexpected". The unexpected is happening in B248 as we speak. The New York Patriots have shot out to an 18-8 start, and hold a 4.5 game lead over 3 teams in their division. A combination of great hitting and great defense, as well as good pitching, have contributed to this start, and there is hope that we could actually sustain this for some time. We didn't lose a series all April, and we've carried that form into early May, hoping to split our last full series before the end of play tonight.

For once, this perennial Bronze backmarker is at the front of the pack and showing the ability needed to push for a successful season.

Valdez and Swift were added in the offseason thanks to some other sales. We've been excellent defensively (1st in conference, .733), excellent at the plate (1st in conference, .292), decent pitching-wise (3.68 starter ERA, 2.99 bullpen ERA).

Both golds were rocked in their previous starts, but for the moment I'm not too concerned as long as we can overcome it. Finally added LaValliere about half an hour ago with today's earnings. At 925 points, I could not resist. Guy's a budget stud who usually goes for 4-figures. Also got some really good advice on strategy on the discord, and I've put it to good use.

Someone send help, I just spent 10,000 PP on a reliever -- Lindy McDaniel. I think that's the most I've spent on a card, and it's a bullpen spot.. be lucky to get near 2 WAR out of him. Oh well, looks like the year of the card he put up 5.9 WAR in a relief role so you never know.

Historical relievers are hard to find above Silver tier. Maybe the premium price will be worth it if he puts up some nice save streaks.

Magus: Looks like your bullpen is gassed.. I would drop your 5th outfielder for an extra reliever. Maybe even a converted SP in a long-relief role.

Only starter I have left on the inactive list is Rick Reed, so he'll have to be used for awhile. Kevin Bass hasn't been helping the cause with his ineffectiveness, so he sees the reserves for some time.

You clearly love to run. Ha. Valdez must eat guys for breakfast at that level.

10k on a reliever? Good lord. Most I have spent on one has been on Sutter. He has been money for me.

Not really...in three of his last 4 starts, he's been the one getting eaten. Pitching to a 5.67 ERA because of those bad starts. Hopefully he'll get on a run of good starts soon. The rotation is still a work in progress, and hopefully in a few days I can add another gold starter.

Yes, we also love to be aggressive on the basepaths. Mainly Reyes & Gwynn. Ideally I'd like to get more stolen bases out of Castillo too.

How much pp do you have, and what position are you looking to upgrade?

First Look at Our League S251 - 2027

Cooper and Salem lead a tightly bunched Our League to begin our 7th season. Something came up, so probably no I207 schedule until tonight. I again ask folks to take it easy on my eyes by at least adding the + to their team's abbreviations and avoiding the in-game logos used in the schedule. Thanks.

I agree on the Crowns. The "Our League" will be coming off, but I think the year should remain on it. If I ever find time, I may go back and fix the older ones.

I forgot to tell you guys... I did the Challenge mode for free packs on Sunday and the pack I got for Annandale actually had a usable card (yeah, imagine that!). It was a 89 OVR Randy Myers (a reliever). So I put him on my roster.

Now he's got a 20+ ERA in 2 IP, but still, he was usable!!

I agree it's a bit much. But I love tinkering with teams, and once a team gets pretty much set, it's much less engaging. Sure, I love looking at the stats and thinking about how to make the team better, but there's only so much tinkering you can do when upgrades cost 5k plus each!

The way it's going is that a couple of the teams are theme teams, so they don't require a lot of day-to-day management. Here's my teams organized by order of creation:
  • Diamond - PTP HR hitting team. I just wait for enough PP to look for upgrades and buy and open packs once in a while
  • Bronze - this is my packs only team. They open packs on a set schedule so when I'm not opening packs I don't do much of anything with them
  • Silver - this is Annandale
  • Iron - MLB theme team (Texas Rangers). I bought all the Rangers cards I could afford and now they just play while I save up for the cards I couldn't afford. Almost no day-to-day involvement with them. They've been FTP so far.
  • Iron - this is Motown
  • Bronze - this is a FTP "smallball" team that only uses a certain type of player. They're doing great (the last half of last year in Iron they went 62-20) so I'm trying hard to keep my hands off. The only reason they're not in OL is because I have 3 or 4 live players on the roster.
So aside from checking records and PP for my teams, I spend most of my time trolling the auction house and my spreadsheets while thinking about how to improve Annandale and Motown.
