Chicago final stats, and injuries heading into the playoffs

Some interesting stuff inside the numbers, and on the team page the most relevant data is under "Current Injuries".
Orlando Rea was added to the roster, so we'll enter the playoffs with a 4 man rotation of my 1, 4 and 5 SP with a AAA starter as the 4th, and a backup 3B starting.
And you can see the pen adjustment with Cruz now in a setup role for the 21 year old.

GAME 4's, Grady Little shows up in Fresno? Stunning ending, Pitchers duels abound

DIVISION SERIES GAME 4's

AAA Gold Gloves-Andy Davis LF

FRONTIER LEAGUE

Chicago Iron Pigs (Orlando Rea 3-0 4.26)
@
Arizona Rattlers (Gabriel Pimentel 0-1 7.94)

Jeffrey Hudsons 2R HR in the 3rd kicked things off and Orlando Rea, Jake Carlson and Cisco Casas combined to yield just 1 earned run over 9, and give us a 3-1 series lead. Hugh Collins was 3-4 2 2B's (2) and Pedro Salinas was 3-3 with 2 2B's and an RBI. Ernesto Garza was 3-4 in the loss and Stan Powell was 3-5 with 2 2B's.

HR CHI-Hudson (2)
Chicago leads the series 3-1

West Michigan White Caps (Artie Johnson 14-11 3.91)
@
Buffalo Bisons (Chet O'Neil 7-5 3.88)

Pepe Mejia hit a 2 out tie-breaking solo HR in the 8th off RP Jeff Hogan and Artie Johnson and Chet O'Neil locked horns in an outstanding pitchers duel. Johnson went 8-4-1-1-1-5 for the win, O'Neil took a no decision after going 7.1-6-1-1-2-5. Javier Lopez (WMI) was 3-4 2 SB's (3) in the win.
West Michigan 2 Buffalo 1
W-Johnson (1-0) L-Hogan (0-1) S-Watkins (1)
HR WMI-Mejia (2)
Series tied 2-2

COASTAL LEAGUE

Corpus Christi Hooks (Mike Lewis 1-0 1.13)
@
Fresno Grizzlies (Luis Acosta 10-8 3.83)

In a “non-move” that will likely accompany Grady Little's of 2003, Corpus Christi Manager Roy Bowen left starter Mike Lewis in, in the 7th inning of a game they led 5-4 at the time. They entered the 7th up 5-1, and 3 runs were in and 3rd hitter Antonio Altagracia was up with 2 outs. Lewis sat at 96 pitchers and Bowen allowed him to remain. 2 pitches later Altagracia hit a towering 3R HR and Fresno had completed a stunning comeback vs. one of the IBL's premier pitchers. Compounding the hurt was the fact that the hooks proceeded to load the bases with 1 out in the 9th. Ed Adronyk hit into a FC on a 2-1 pitch and Alex Covington popped to 2nd to end it. Bill Miles was 2-3 2 HR's 3 runs 4 RBI's in the loss.
Fresno 7 Corpus Christi 6
W-Knox (1-0) L-Lewis (1-1) S-Artlano (2)
HR CC-Miles 2 (2) FRE-Altagracia (1)
Fresno leads the series 3-1 (HUGE upset in the making)

San Antonio Silver Stars (Jorge Ortiz 9-6 4.41)
@
Boston Bombers (Pat Kelley 17-8 3.80)

Pat Kelley outpitched Jorge Ortiz in another gem and Robert Bowers 2R HR in the 2nd was enough to stand up as Kelley and 4 relievers combined to allow just 1 run on 7 hits. Kelley went 6.2-7-1-1-3-1 and Ortiz went 7.1-8-2-2-4-6 in the loss. Jorge Rios (SAN) went 3-3 2B (1) SB (1) in the loss.
Boston 2 San Antonio 1

Best pitched day in IBL post season history, amazing finishes, game 7's!!

GAME 6's

BIG NEWS OUT OF CHICAGO
Hall, Iron Pigs, agree to an extension.
With an arbitration estimate north of 10 million, and a payroll already in need of some cuts, we approached our 24 year old ace about an extension. Back and forth talks led to a deal we feel fantastic about. He ends up agreeing to a 3 year 17.5M dollar extension with a 4th year player option at 9.33M. Fan interest jumped to 95.

FRONTIER LEAGUE

Arizona Rattlers (Domngo Reyes 8-16 5.30)
@
Chicago Iron Pigs (Jorge Trujillo 1-0 3.86)

This is a must win, I cannot go to a deciding game with McKinley on the hill.

As clutch a performance as has ever been pitched for this franchise. Jorge Trujillo tosses 8 masterful innings (8-5-1-1-1-8) and young Cisco Casas goes through the heart of the Rattler lineup in the 9th to seal the game, and series. Hugh Collins went 3-4 RBI (4) Jeffrey Hudson was 2-4 with an RBI (10).

Buffalo Bisons (Ken Lee 0-1 8.53)
@
West Michigan White Caps (John Drake 0-0 7.94)

In a post-season quickly being known for its pitching, Ken Lee and John Drake paired up and didn't disappoint. Lee went 8-7-2-1-1-3 and Drake 7-4-1-1-2-11 in a game decided on Pablo Tobias' (WMI) 2 run 3rd inning single. Just 12 hits between them, the White Cap pen went the final 2 innings with zeroes to even the series and send it to a 7th game.

Nice, win or go home game with the 2 aces going.
And boy they didn't disappoint. Jose Torres (SAN) hit a walk off game winning double off closer Jake Ellison in the bottom of the 9th to send the series to a 7th game. Neither SP allowed a run. Miller went 8-2-0-0-1-5 and Esparza 9-6-0-0-1-8.

Well you have some fresh faces at least. Totally unexpected in some cases. I was thinking San Antonio and West Michigan were going to be here, neither is.

Couple things to note in our series.
Roberto Martinez is just 1 DAY from being eligible to activate, and will miss this series. I would have LOVED to pitch him in place of McKinley.
The Bisons are looking to run 3 lefties in the 1st 4 games, and that's an issue.
Their lineup is very LH dominant, and we can't start a lefty until game 2.
This series is going to take something extra to win, while we may look like favorites, every factor seems to be in the Bisons favor.

In the CL it's the pitching dominant Bombers against a 'scrappy insurgency' from Fresno. They have 'good pitching' but Boston was the CL's best at preventing runs. Fresno has a good offense, and I think that's where they're going to have to win this.

Does good pitching always beat good hitting?

Any way it comes out there will at least be a new WS representative from the Coastal League this year.

OH CRAP! Forgot to mention the most intriguing aspect! Buffalo will be running out Bryan Rogers and Ken Lee, 2 former Iron Pig starters!
