Rootin for an '87 repeat. Twins beat Tigers in ALCS and Cards in WS.

I still cannot believe that the Tigers got swept by the Royals. Let's not get too cocky with the A's here.

ESPN's staff:
5 have the Twins losing to the A's in the ALDS 3 have the Twins losing to the Yankees in the ALCS 2 have the Twins losing the World Series 7 have the Twins winning the World Series http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playof...ory?id=2610409 So, more than half think that the Twins will be the series team. And none of them think the Tigers will beat the Yankees. |

I can't believe Peter Gammons has the Twins losing. That surgery must've done something wrong with his head.

Twins lose. It's all Frank Thomas, for some reason he always comes out against the Twins and has a big game.

I think this thread can get some more mileage.
Keep or Let Go: Torii Hunter Juan Rincon Carlos Silva Rondell White Luis Castillo I think those are it...that I can think of. |

He was exciting to watch late in '06, but he's due to make $12 million. The Twins have a few players that could step up in his spot. Although none of them would be likely to produce offensive numbers like Hunter or be at Hunter's defensive level. I do feel that Hunter has lost a step defensively and there has got to be a study about players being in their free agency years stepping it up slightly. I see a major disappointment if the Twins bring him back. Granted, if he goes somewhere else nobody is likely to do as well as he did this year (hell, he had a career year). However, he's a centerpiece in the clubhouse and fans would be pissed if he left. I wish I could wish him luck elsewhere, but I can't. Verdict: TWIN
Sure, he lost his setp-up spot late in the season. But Rincon has been solid for the past couple years and I don't see how you can't bring him back. I'd see him getting a contract similar to Reyes (or even less). Verdict: TWIN Silva is a tough one for me. I feel that he struggled this year but think he can bounce back. However, with Santana/Liriano/Bonser/Baker/Garza/Perkins/Durbin/Gassner/Slowey all ready for the majors, I don't see Silva coming back. He had a good year last year but just plain sucked this year. Verdict: GONE He's gonna have a good year whoever he is with next year. It just won't be the Twins. He hit the solo shot in the first game of the ALDS, but he won't hit another homerun in a Twins uniform. I'd be surprised if he stayed in the AL because he hates DHing. He could be back as a Twin, but the chances are unlikely. Verdict: GONE Castillo is another Twin that falls into the Hunter category. Castillo has done well and excels on the turf. He hates playing defense out there, but he loves hitting on it. He's due $5.75 million which is pretty good for what he can do occassionally in the field and his bat, but I think you dump him and sign a good 3B. Punto can play 2B and Punto has proven he can hit decently and is a solid defender. Save the $5.75 million for someone else, I say. But it won't happen. Verdict: TWIN Last edited by MorseMoose; 10-07-2006 at 06:49 PM. |

LF Josh Rabe SP Glen Perkins with Eyre/Durbin/Gassner taking the MR spot -or- SP Kevin Slowey with Bonser/Garza moving up one each |
