Lost - 6 to 2

I am so sick of this friggin' park....

If Mr. Perkins won't let me have the fences moved back this off-season, I will quit. I am not joking. It'd be one thing if I had a team full of lumbering giants. Then maybe we'd benefit more from the fences than our opponents, but I don't. Nobody on our team is over 5' 10" tall. People think I like to steal bases and play small ball, but that is really not the case. What I like is defense and it just so happens that most good defenders are speedy players who are not big sluggers. So, we play offense the way we do out of necessity, not by design. And having these short fences is just stupid. I tried to tell him that when he planned it all, but he was adamant. Well, I can be adamant, too. You don't see if I quit.....

We begin a 3 game series with manger Harry Lashley (44-5.5) and his Keystones today. We are 11-1 against them so far this season and we swept then in 3 games in Philadelphia the last time we me, three weeks ago. They are currently 8th and last in runs scored with 4.8 per game (Detroit is 3rd with 5.3). They are 7th in runs allowed with 6.1 per game (Detroit is #1 with 3.9).

I sent SS Hubbard Hooker (28-5.3) and 3B Fred Parrish (27-5.7) to Syracuse and recalled RF Jackie Porter (32-6.3), SS Dave Krampe (28-5.5) and 3B Russel Gardner (32-6.4)

Part of the reason he won this one is that as a hitter he had 3 hits with 2 triples, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. LF Fleet Wilcox (29-4.9) had 3 hits with 2 doubles, scored a run and had an RBI. Cincinnati has won 8 in a row.

Grand National Association:

Providence (3) at Pittsburgh (1): Ed Wison (25-7.3) (30-18) over Tom Lilly (26-6.4) (24-22). The Grays scored twice in the top of the 9th to break a 1-1 tie on a double, an error and a wild pitch.
