I read about Matty's passing in the paper this morning, and then I found a bunch of his pictures in the Topps archive. (I wasn't looking for pictures of him, it was just a coincidence.)

So, reason enough to post these, I figure:

Alou with the Yankees. I didn't find any pics of him with the A's (1972) or the Padres (1974), but those teams are represented in the Batters Pack; this is just a picspam, basically.

(The sleeve patch represents the 50th anniversary of Yankee Stadium [1923-1973]. Or course, the Yanks would spend the next two years at Shea, while the Stadium was getting remodeled.)

Tommy appears to be angry that only 6 of his 8 teams are represented in the Batters Pack. (Or, more likely, that he's been traded from the contending Red Sox to the last-place Angels over the winter. And that he was traded for Bob Heise, of all mediocrities.)

Anyway, these Angels pics fill one of the missing teams for Tommy, leaving only the 1968 Indians unaccounted for. (And an Indians pic has been posted on the site; its omission from the Batters Pack is probably just an oversight. So the Angels pics effectively complete his set.)

The Flood/Senators pic in the Batters Pack is cropped from an unfortunately-angled photo of a SPORT magazine cover (as seen in the image preview). The Flood/Senators pic in cheech411's collection is a Cardinals pic, with Gern44 nicely customizing a Sens hat on it.

But if you want the real thing, in (sometimes) glorious Topps color, look no further. Happy (early) Festivus!

(Okay, so the watermark is an issue with the larger sizes, but that can be cleared up; I just don't know how.)

Btw, while I'm in a Sennies mood, according to Dressed to the Nines, the 1967 Senators, in addition to the (then-)regular blue caps, also had a variant uniform with white caps and no stirrup socks at all, just the plain white "sanitaries", as seen here:

This May 3 1967 photo of Jim King is the only one I could locate quickly. I'll try find some others this weekend.
