Probably 70/30 in favour of the Germans in a PK situation

Germany 4-1 in shootouts, Italy 1-4. Therefore based on the stats it would have been 80/20 in favour of Germany (and yes I know a shootout is much more random than just stats).

Italy just about deserved that. Great drama.

If it's an Italy-France final, I can just watch it as a neutral. If it's Italy-Portugal, Italy all the way. Not because Portugal put England out, but because of the way they behaved against the Dutch in particular, as well as England. The Portugese have been the villains of the tournament.

I'm sorry, that was very naughty of me to use the white colour, but I felt it was the best way to show my disappointment.

I possibly got it wrong.

But the Portuguese bring a sense of freeflowing fun to the game. France v Italy will be a bit boring. Also Portugal have some real personalities on their team.

Also it would be nice to see a new nation win the Cup

I guess it was in the stars that Italy would win tonight. Every 12 years they seem to bubble up.

1970 - Final (lost to Brazil)
1982 - Winners (beat West Germany)
1994 - Final (lost to Brazil)
2006 - Winners ???

I think Italy have started to open up now, early on in the tournament their midfield was defense first, now its gained enough confidence to push forward regularly as we saw today, or at least I did when I was watching.

At the moment.

Likely though to eventually be a) although b) is also a possibility, as is the well used term nowadays "mutual consent".

As much as I hate to admit it, the Italians deserved to win that one. The Germans looked offensively anemic the whole match. I still think France looked better against Brazil. If they are just as brilliant in the next two matches, I look for them to win.
