The same thing happens with local carriers in the USA too. Because they pay such a hefty premium to show NFL games they charge much more per subscriber than any other cable channel. Im sure that they will reach a (probably unhappy) medium and resume service soon.

(This is OT to the subject, so I apologise to those who complain )

I'm hoping it's a repeat of the end of November when the same thing happened, and we lost all ESPN programming for a week (including the college football bowl games), before a new contract was signed.

But who knows?
I just hope we will get access to all ESPN programming soon though - because atm all that happens is we'll get more McCarver Show and more New York-based news in Sportsdesk (as ESPN won't allow them to show SportsCenter, so instead we get that and now more recently The Score Tonight from Canada - which may or may not please cc )

SDPM, you lucky man, you. Being bored I was playing with Google Earth and chacking out the Leigh grounds when I remembered you and checked out Cheltenham. What a beautiful place. Churchdown would be a great place to live. I love all the open space.

I hope so too. I don't fancy another sleepless night tonight that has high humidity and temperatures in the high 60s/low 70s tbh.

Here I was thinking it was just a thread to chew the fat, think I'll step down from the thread. Today if it was netrual I'd have gone with Italy but with German home supoort and a ref who will be scared to give a dodgy decision to the Italians and not scared to give it to Germany I'd say Germany 2-1 Italy.

If Germany and Italy play their match in a 'professional' way, you might get an early start on a good night sleep.

Do people care about the Swiss Bundesliga? - no, because it is made up of local, lower quality players.
Do people care about the Brazilian Serie A National Championship? - no, because all the best Brazilian players are in Europe.
Do people care about the Chinese Super League? - no because it is made up of Chinese, lower talented players, and is rife with corruption.

None of those leagues have funny nicknames of teams or foreign players, but nobody cares about them because those leagues are not at the highest level.

And I hope you realise that a team in Germany that has reached the Champions League final has a company in its name because it basically keeps the town it is based in going.

The NASL had the large proportion of each teams squad based from abroad; adding one "marquee" player from overseas to an MLS roster stacked full of Americans is more likely to bring more people to watch games than hurt it.
on top of that, Im fairly sure that Beckham and Ronaldo expressed interest in playing in the MLS before the MLS returned the favor.

simply put, whaaaaaaaaaaat?

those are just the targets of the prosecuter so far correct? not the actual ruling, which I thought was coming out after the WC at this point?

if that does happen, who the hell am I gonna root for...Juventus will be way down, AC Milan and Lazio will be down, good thing I hate Fiorentina...I guess Ill have to go with Roma.
