It might only be taking the current roster into account.

Actually, I take it back. It isn't way off for Clemens. I'd give him a B- instead of a B.

Rivera's B- is about right. I shouldn't argue with that.

Phillips is based on his short time and immediate production in comparison to Phelps and Mientkiewicz (I have no idea if I even spelled it right). That isn't saying much but if you want to weigh it against those men then he does get an A. Otherwise, I'd say he should be in the C+ to B- range.

Not impossible, but I'd give it a 100/1 possibility, which is nearly as.
Of course, the Yankees don't have to finish ahead of Boston to make the playoffs.

I was wrong. Throw in Hughes, Karstens, DeSalvo, Bean, and Wright and those are your "incompletes."

I'm almost sure that's right, without even double-checking. I had a lot of trouble spelling it earlier in the year, though, when I talked about him here. Why not save your fingers and just call him "Mint-K" as I have seen him called elsewhere?

Actually, that wasn't my point. The Yankees need .675 in the second half to get to 95 wins, which would probably be the WC spot at best. I was just comparing this required rate with the best first half rate in baseball - that of the Red Sox.

Sounds too much like Dice-K and he's the enemy.

Ohhh... "Eye-Chart" was definitely the more popular one. I forgot about that one.

Good point. The WC spot has taken 95, 95, and 98 wins the past three seasons. But, I wouldn't place it even near 100/1 odds for the Yankees to play .675 ball for the second half. Oakland and Houston have done the same a couple of times in this decade alone.

So, I go to the can and the Yankees come up to bat. I come back into the room just in time to see the ball sailing well over the 400 foot sign in centerfield. I knew A-Rod was due up in the inning, and I said well, well, #31*. Nice going, Alex.

Wrong! It was Jeter trotting around the bases. Wow, I didn't know he could hit the ball that hard.

*As I was typing above, A-Rod hit it out anyway, #31.**

**Just after typing that, Abreu hits the third Yankee home run of the inning.

That's it! Inning over. Time for the AFLAC goat commercial which makes me chuckle everytime. Office worker to boss (paraphrasing): "Does our plan help with the bills like AFLAC does?" Goat, chewing papers: "Nah, nah, nah."

A guy goes off and gets married and what does he return to?? The Yanks go 3 out of 4 for the weekend and nothing is posted. Sure, it's the Devil Rays and the Yanks had to bust their behinds for each win, but they are wins right??

Seriously though, the Yanks of the 2nd half really haven't inspired me very much. Their bullpen still stinks, Mussina got lit up and Rivera didn't look all that sharp. They need to play much better than this if they expect to contend. I'm still hopeful that no desperation moves are made. I'd rather lose a season, but still have the core of young starters intact.

nomaas.org is calling for an offer of Cano, Melky, Farnsworth and a couple others to try to pry Cabrera from the Marlins. It would be purely a cost-saving move for Florida...one can only imagine if this happened.

What, they had no Internet access at the hotel? You go off and dump us is what you did, and the thread languishes for FOUR DAYS without a post. And that was after I was reduced to talking about the AFLAC goat commercial. I was not about to "dola" that effort! Now you come back and pretend nothing happened, like getting married to a lovely woman, the love of your life was your top priority? How important was that really, hm?

HA! She does (especially since I post mostly from work), but my commish duties definately won't be coming back. I stopped commishing OOTP leagues about 2-3 years ago anyway.
