Holy Crap!!

Chile scores off a free kick in the 86th minute to take a 3-2 lead. Ecuador dominated this match for 70 minutes and now they are melting away. Another awesome match in the Copa America.

I don't know what to think of this. I feel like, as an American, I'm supposed to HATE the Mexican national team....at the same time, I want to say "this is how we roll in the CONCACAF."

Brazil is knocking on the door, though.

I just cant root for Mexico. It would be like rooting for the Celtics or USC.

I didn't realise Hugo Sanchez was Mexico manager. That man is a God.

The Mexican GK Torta has the ugliest GK kit ever.

This result combined with Sundays might mean that the US is the best team in the world.

Under a lot of fire, though. He talked a lot of garbage about his predecessor and then nearly fell on his face when taking over the team. Getting to the Gold Cup final, scoring first, and perhaps the Copa America being so close to the Gold Cup final preserved his job.

Going 2-0 on Brazil might also help.

Never NEVER have understood why hitting the posts / crossbar is a matter of luck. A football player controls where the ball goes when it leaves his foot. If he can't get it WITHIN the bar and posts, then it's a miss. Not bad luck.

Agreed.

Id imagine the Brazilian media will be in a rabid fury. After their pathetic showing in WC 2006, this is hardly an improvement.

A loss for Brazil might be better for them. The winner of this group is on the same side of the bracket as Argentina (if they as expected win their group). And, oddly, the B1 winner plays C2 while B2 plays the best 3rd place team. This makes little sense.

84 mins gone. I'm calling it for Mexico. Great defensive performance from Mexico. No doubt the media will dwell on the disappointing Brazilians, but the Mexicans have defended in numbers, and with great organisation.

Agreed. Brazil has looked horrid on both sides of the ball.
