thats back in the era of straight knockout round world cups...and it was common practice for replays back then wasnt it?

Yep. I just don't think it's feasible in the modern era.

I think that worked out well, when the dust settles, for Cambiasso to miss the crucial penalty. He scored the best goal of the world cup, so hopefully won't be too badly affected by the save.
