Thankfully, none of that matters when Parker Meadows comes off the IL. Hoping Javy can stay motivated a bit longer. :-)

If I never see Javy back at SS I would be happy. Let him roam the outfield where he is actually providing value for this team. I have never had an issue with his glove its his arm that is the problem.

Well, that was a fun game.
Jobe, Mize, and Skubal are set to have their ERAs blow up in Denver. With rain possible for Tuesday, may be a double-header on Wednesday which means a Montero start so only two starters will have to pitch there.

Barely able to get up this morning after staying up for that wild game. Double header at Coors today - should be crazy.

Ten games over .500 on May eighth. I am unfamiliar with this odd sensation.

Yeah. RIP, Chet. Do you want to start the memorial thread, or shall I?
As for today, I'm watching the MLBN game (Rangers at Red Sox, Sox telecast) and I hear this: Quote:

Huh.
MLBN has switched to the Tigers game, now 9-0. Alas, they have given us the Rockies-cast. Boy, do they sound depressed. (On merit, but still. If the Rockies continue on their current pace [6-30, .167], they will finish 27-135. Ouch. 14 games worse than last year's White Sux??) I see the Tigers have said "Sayonara" to Maeda, and apparently you have Tomás Nido now? Take care of him, okay? (Granted, you're playing well enough that he's probably not casting envious glances Queens-ward, but still. 13 seasons in Mets colors [counting minors], I still feel a certain attachment.) |

I may have never gotten over the loss of Ron LeFlore without Chet. RIP

Watched the second game of the double header from the archives while playing a week of Raccoons, and while it's only the Rockies, barely a major league team, the Tigers look like they are playing some really good baseball right now.
Now they just have to hold everything together for another five months ![]()

An unlikely parlay at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull tonight (especially as the new park isn't actually there, but I don't know the new address), a first-place Tigers team faces…a healthy Jacob deGrom!
I mean, cynics may say that it's only May (in either case), but still worth noting, IMO. |

Mize is having the best season of his career so of course, he is going to the IL.

Hey, it's only taken four seasons for that contract to pay off! Give it up for long-term planning, lol.

Currently the Tigers sit at 26-15. I'll be honest and say that I did not expect this start at all. I thought Harris did not address the right handed power issue in the offseason and on the whole did not do much to improve the team from a year before. I thought the run last year was more magic than ability and it would be hard for them to repeat such a thing. This has been such a pleasant surprise and I'm wondering how much credit does Scott Harris get for all of this?
Look across the roster, the majority of players are from the Al Avila era. Who I always though could identify talent. Al drafted well, in fact the only issue any person ever had with his draft picks was when he took Jobe (HS R handed pitcher)over Mayer (SS/Boston). Even that pick has panned out thus far. My issue with Al was that he didn't have people in places that could develop the talent. That was always my issue with Avila. So is that where the credit starts with Harris? Has his signature move been to reform the coaching staff and development culture? For me that has been the difference. We have had two trade deadlines with Harris and I am really underwhelmed with him on that front. He sold last year and it felt like the team decided to show him how "smart" he was and went and won a playoff series. This last offseason was Bregman or bust, and it was a bust but Javy playing CF like he is Willie May's grandson, McKinstry coming in out of nowhere and the reclamation of both Mize and Tork have this team humming. Am I downplaying the Gleyber deal? Perhaps a bit and maybe he deserves some credit there but I don't see how Gleyber by himself moves the needle as much as having all the above players I mentioned have seasons so far that nobody would have predicted. So Tigers fans, where do you sit with Harris at this point? Is he more lucky than good or do you think I'm too critical when I think he may be more lucky than good? |

Whatever it may be, I am enjoying this season, and feel free to credit anyone at all, nothing will hurt my feelings!
